Hi,

I would appreciate if someone can help me with a motorolo moto G5 stacked in a boot loop.

Basically, the phone does not boot, it shows the logo but then restarts in a loop. I can access the fastboot with volume down and power button. Things I have tried:

Remove the battery for an hour and try again -> nothing
Enter fastboot and use recovery mode -> gives a no command error
Use adb to access the phone -> usb debugging was not enabled, so I can't connect. And I cannot enable it because it does not boot.
Fastboot lists the device. I erased the cache -> did not help
Boot a recovery image -> bootloader is locked, so fastboot gives me a permission error.

All remaining options involve loosing the data. I cannot unlock the phone because data will be erased, I cannot use fastboot factory mode for the same reason. I cannot flash a recovery image because it is locked.

I am running out of options and google just gives hundreds of pages with these same useless solutions (for me).

I don't want to solve the boot loop, I just want to recover the pictures. Any suggestion?

Thanks for your time

Welcome to Android Central! The battery might be faulty. Can you try a replacement battery?

As far as I know, recovering data from the onboard storage of a dead or unbootable phone requires a data recovery specialist, which can cost hundreds of dollars.:-\

Thanks for your answer. I don't have a spare battery to test, but the battery seems to charge well and the bootloader shows battery OK.

That doesn't necessarily mean the battery is completely healthy. Since you say you don't have many remaining options, this would be a relatively simple thing to try (and it wouldn't hurt to have a spare battery anyway).
