I currently have a Motorola milestone and cannot enter the recovery menu as it seems to loop or not work...

Hardware/Software information:

Model number: Milestone
Rooted? YES
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Firmware configuration version: GAS_EMEA_USASHLSOORTQYFR_P001
Baseband version: 3gsmepu91a_u_91.07.55i
Baseband configuration version: UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B805C.0R
Kernel version: 2.6.29-omap1 wxnk36@ca25rhe53 #1
Build number: SHOLS_U2_02.34.3

My problem is as follows:

When i use ROM MANAGER to backup into recovery mode it enters but halfway through the loading status bar it crashes and restarts my phone. Another problem I have is I have tried to manually enter into my phones recovery menu without using rom manager but it just does not want to boot into recovery.

If i use the application "Rom Manager" to boot into recovery menu it kina works... Once I see the triangle logo just before the status bar is half way I press on the volume up and camera button and it stays in recovery mode and the following is written:

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

More info:
Phone model #: MVQ7
Rom Manager: 2.0.2.6
Recovery: ClockWorkMod: 2.0.2.4

Any ideas on what might be the problem?

You should try and flash an alternate recovery in rom manager or older version of clock work

I have a droid, so i'm not sure if ROM Manager gives me different options compared to your milestone, but I believe the latest clockwork recovery is 2.5.0.1 not 2.0.2.4 like you have. so you should try flashing the new version, it has all the latest bugs worked out.
