so how do you get a recovery on this phone can you do it with rom manager or do you have to do it another way does any of the one click root tools work

In order to flash a custom recovery, you must first root the phone. To do so, read the thread that is stickied at the top of this forum.

As far as a custom recovery, for now we will need to use the recovery made for the Optimus S. After you've successfully rooted, go read this thread here.

thank you but im having troubles out of ADB shell I AM rooted i checked 3 diff ways but it still returns me as "$" rather than "#" even when i type su i get denied how do i fix it

Did you install superuser, and then reboot the phone after you did the adb commands?

yeah i just did that and that fixxed it now im stuck
agin rofl

okay got my last problem fixxed now when i type mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

i get an error saying that no such file or directory exists

okay so im having troubles creating a back up it gives me an error that says
