Recurring Cards

I have a Gear Live. It seems like there are only 2 choices: turn off all the cards or allow them to return over and over again. The same thing happens with some of the native apps like the step counter.

Is there any way to limit, or control, how often these messages appear. I get so many alerts from the watch (and I can't read them w/o putting my glasses on) that wearing the watch is more distracting and time consuming than it used to be just getting the phone out of my pocket all the time.

You can certainly disable the steps card and the heart rate card. You can find these settings if you go to those apps and swipe all the way to the right (by swiping to the left).
Google now cards show up based on your phone and currently there is no way to control settings on both independent of each other (as far as I know). This is actually my number 1 request and I'm sure it'll come in Android L

As mentioned above what shows up on Google now on your phone is typically pushed to the watch. If you disable the item in Google now (like weather or stock quotes, etc.) , it will stop showing up on the watch as well. Sadly, this means you won't get that info on your phone now either tho.. I'm not sure if there is a way to control then independently yet.

Also, for notifications like email, WhatsApp or from a specific app, you can choose to "mute" a specific app from showing notifications on the watch... They will still show on the phone. To do this go into the Android Wear app on your phone and select mute notifications.

Now in 5.0.1 you can mute individual apps from the watch. After you swipe away a card, swipe from the bottom upwards.
