red capacitive buttons dont light up

I'm experiencing the same button issues and have also realized that the display's brightness seldom changes no matter the amount of light present (with Automatic brightness enabled).

I suspect a faulty Ambient Light Sensor and am wondering if anyone else has noticed that their display's brightness seldom changes?

I guess my Rezound works as advertised. In low light they do come on. So cool. And when cover the light sensor as someone pointed out...that works too. Sorry to hear you all have a bad device. Man this thing for me has been sweet!! Day 2 and with heavy use I am so happy this was my upgrade.

Also check out adjbrightness, there you can permanently turn soft keys on or off. And also check out screen filter app if your not rooted, I personally use adjbrightness to keep the red lights turned of because I like to watch YouTube in the dark and red lights get annoying. But if you wish to keep them on all the time, adjbrightness will let you do that if your rooted.

I found this from another thread. You can make it either keep your lights on all the time (even with screen off), or you can make them turn on when the screen turns on.

I have had issues with this app. Every once in a while it won't let the screen turn back on. The buttons are on, but the screen won't do anything until you take the battery out. To bad too, it's pretty easy to use.

I'm running Scott's Senseless ICS

is there any way to keep the soft keys on when the screen is on other than rooting?

Interesting...it is only a matter of days ago that I posted this issue after being on my 4th device and people hadn't heard of this issue. One poster went so far as to say that this issue was impossible because it hadn't happened to him, even though the 4 devices I have gotten were new and not refurbs. I have since given up on getting a new device It has been my experience that, while it might be a light sensor issue, the problem is so inconsistent it is difficult to tell. It is a great device other than that.

In a way, I could understand that line of thought b/c the issue wasn't raised by anyone from 12/4/11 thru 2/17/12. Kinda went outta sight, outta mind for awhile. Sorry to hear you recieved fully functional headaches instead of phones. Hope your stores manager realizes his inventory batch is defective. It never ceases to amaze me how so many phones can be on the same production lines, built by the same people and have such different results.

I suggested that it could be a bad batch of phones to the store personnel, the CS reps, and the tech reps and they all reacted like they'd been gutshot. Pretty funny...

Just out of curiousity, what was the time span between purchasing #1 & returning #4?

Witin a week, three were returned. I kept the 4th. Phone is pretty much stellar, IMHO. I was a huge TBolt fan and to me, this is that phone on steroids, to coin an overused phrase. Now that we seem to know it is a sensor, and if there is a problem, we can all just sit and wait for one of those HTC updates we all love sitting and waiting for. I have another update next month. May get another Resound...then again, may wait and see what's down the pike.
