My daughter just got a Nexus 5X on MetroPCS. I tried to install the Redbox app after doing the 6.0.1 upgrade and get the message "Your device isn't compatible with this version". I don't have this problem with the Moto X pure on 6.0. Any ideas? Thanks

re:

It sounds like the developer hasn't fixed it for the new version yet -- Unless others are able to install without that message than it may be a device specific issue.

Had this same problem with my Nexus 6... The Redbox app just isn't supported for the Nexus 6 or the Nexus 5x (oddly enough, it works fine for the Nexus 6p). I've just been using their web site instead.

After responding earlier I installed it on my tablet (Tab S2) and the app is awful!

Redbox streaming isn't ready for prime time. And I wouldn't hold your breath.

I believe they're talking about the app for reserving movies in the kiosk, not the streaming app, which I'm fairly sure is separate.

Hope they update it soon, as it makes no sense for it to not be compatible with the 5X. It's not the only Marshmallow device and has a typical processor and screen res. Having issues with the website on my current phone is what triggered me to finally upgrade, and I'd prefer to have the app.

Has anyone sent the developer an email to fix this? I'd suggest taking that next step if it's not working.

I've just been using the website. I would prefer an app, but it works well. My understanding is the app will not accept promo codes, and if still true, the website has that as an advantage.

For now I've just bookmarked the site & will try using it instead of the app.

How do you make a website an icon on your phone? I didn't know you could do that?!

Open the site using Chrome. Click on the 3 dots at the top right corner and then "Add to home screen".

Thanks, that's awesome! I never had a need to do that before, but that's a great tip :)
I just wish those shortcuts could be moved to the launcher. I don't use it enough that I want it on my home screen, but it has to be, unless I'm missing something. :)

Redbox is notorious for this... they must either have lazy devs, or not enough of them.
