Since upgrading to froyo the battery life of my fascinate is abysmal. Under normal use it could last me the day, now I am charging it every couple hours.

Any one else seeing this, any solutions?

Battery Life Fixes

There is an fairly extensive thread on this somewhere below. It has a number of good suggestions.

I backed up all of my data and apps, then did a hard reset. This doesn't take long because it resets to Froyo. Then I reinstalled my apps.

My battery time has gone up significantly -- much better than before the upgrade. At least 2X active, 3X standby. I have not begun using Battery Defender, but I think that will add even more capacity.

I am assuming you are totally stock, so this may not be of interest to you but some of the kernels put out by the devs around here can really help the length of your battery life. You mileage may vary, but I moved to comavolt a few days ago and have seen a dramatic increase. Not hard to flash, won't mess with the stock setup you may have, just undervolts the CPU to lengthen your battery life.

You might consider it

Per piizzadude--my phone is totally stock. I considered rooting and using some of the kernels, but wanted to see what the effect would be to just keep everything stock. I did not recalibrate the battery because of this which would probably help quite a bit. I did fully charge and then discharge to 0% a couple of time to add more data to the battery monitor.

i posted this on the other thread. maybe it will help:

Hello. I was also having battery issues after the 2.2 update.

I have now unchecked the auto brightness settings and have manually selected a low setting (not the lowest, but close). I have also changed the brightness settings in the andriod web browser to a low setting.

Also did the battery "reset" thing where you fully charge it, then turn it off to charge more, then drain completely.

Turned off facebook notifications.

Set screen timeout to 30sec.

GPS and Wifi remain on, since I use them often.

Getting decent battery life again. I can make it through day.

GPS is not actually drawing any noticeable current when turned on unless an app is actually using it, AFAIK.
