Reduced Battry Life since Verizon required update

It might be worth asking other people in your area who are on your carrier how their signal is -- it's possible you have a bum device. If everyone's signal sucks, well, complain to the carrier.

And when you're in the car, you should be charging -- particularly with a battery profile like yours. Short term, it'll keep you from running dry at the end of the day; long term, it'll avoid capacity-killing excessive discharge, which will extend the battery longevity and keep you from hating the device at the end of its lifespan.

Nearly every major carrier gets weak signal strength in my neighborhood for some reason. All my neighbors complain about it.

I do often give my phone quick recharges during the day but for the purposes of recording battery life I avoided it for a few days.

Strangely my problem seems to have solved itself. Here it is 4:30 and my battery is at nearly 80% even with everything being on. Suddenly battery life has returned to normal.

Has anyone installed the Maps update from 5/14 to see if the battery drain still exists?

Seeing it to, made it from about 8am to about 2:30PM and had to recharge, A few phone calls, nornal email activity no GPS going, no Wi-Fi going.

Usage is
Android System 40%
Personalize 24%
Mail 13%
Core Apps 7%

Also my inductive charger is now giving me "you phone has been removed from the charger" while it is sitting on it and stops charging.

I finally reset mine tonight. I left work at 5:00 with it fully charged. By 8:30 it was at 59% and I had not used it at all. Hopefully the reset cures it.

I reinstalled updates for maps and this was my full days use. (Battery is low because I was receiving about 45 group messages(that are MMS) when my phone was in my bag in a building that has very spotty service.)

Excellent to see that Maps isn't at the top of that list! How many hours is that?

That was at 9 1/2 hours. Normally at that time of day I'm at about 75% battery. Like I said earlier, it unfortunately dropped really low, because I was in a building that is mainly 1X service only, and I was receiving about 45 or so messages in a group message, and then were being forwarded over the network to the mighty text server, all being done will dropping in and out of 4G. So, naturally it was much much lower.

Well here's MY battery day so far with the latest version of Maps installed. HORRIBLE. And not even 11am. With updates removed prior to this one I could pull almost 20 hours on a light-use day. Needless to say, removing the updates again.

My battery life has been up and down also. For some reason Amazon is always in the apps running. Have never used it so I disabled it. Curious of the update everyone talks about. Mine says 2.06.605.1 710RD. I thought it was supposed to end in a 2?

Thanks everyone for contributing to this thread. I noticed recently that my battery barely makes it through the day now and I checked the battery usage to see if Google Maps was the culprit. I didn't see it running, only something called Google Services so I attributed the decline in battery life just having to due with it not being a new phone anymore. I decided to uninstall the map updates anyways and my battery life returned to normal! Like most others here, I would place the phone on the charger at night and have 30% and recently my phone would drop to below 10% and I'd have to charge it before I was ready to crash for the night. I appreciate the help!

I've been having battery drain for the last few weeks. This morning I went from 100% to 67% by late morning. With NO use of the phone by me. I followed the directions, and have had very little drain since. It's worth a shot....

Mine was perfect til like 3 days ago where I randomly had some violent battery drain. When the phone should have been in deep sleep during the night, it ended up losing almost 50% of battery. I have since disabled a few apps and changed a few settings with location related stuff and its been a complete 180. I was at over 2 days on a charge and was well over 60%.

Mine has been all over the map. It may just be the nature of android, but I may try a factory reset (it has been fairly bad over the last few days after a few weeks of goodness).

Yeah, something happened in the last few days, an update to an app that had a huge negative effect it seems. I disabled most my google apps for the time being. I also turned off google now just to see if that was an issue. So far its been amazing battery life. Im expecting a update to a few of those apps soon to stop this battery drain that alot of people seem to be seeing.

The night before last, my battery went from 100% to 67%, as I said. . Last night, after following what I posted above, it went from 85% to 81% (as of now), and I have texted and done a little surfing this morning. The only app I had that was connected to Google+ in the list was Slacker, which I never even use. I'm hoping that fixes it for me.

I performed a factory reset and now my battery life has truly gone to hell thanks to google services. I guess I need to weed through everything and give it a few days to settle down.

I performed a second factor reset as I was having major judder in many parts of sense and that not only fixed that but seems to have plugged my battery leaks. For some reason, I've had under a 1% hour standby drain over night and throughout today (all updates installed). The only thing I did differently was telling google location services a static location. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I'll note it anyway.

its likely due to what I posted up a little bit in the thread. Some location issue with HTC phones thats causing huge battery drain. I had to disable a few google apps and change a few settings to stop mine from eating battery.
