Reduced Battry Life since Verizon required update

Here's my performance thus far today. On the face of it it doesn't look great, but I have 37% left on a day where I walked for 90 minutes with Runkeeper running and Spotify streaming. So these are good numbers in light of that.

Yesterday, however, was NOT good. Even though I have Maps updates uninstalled and all location settings in Maps shut off, I got about 10 usable hours, and noticed that Maps was the dominant battery user for the day (around 67% at day's end). No explanation on that one. My remedy - power down to "off" for a few. It's the next best thing we have to a battery pull; it resulted in today's improvements.

For what it's worth, I was having terrible battery life, even after disabling location services. I got the BatteryGuru app from Qualcomm, and after it trained for a couple of days my battery life has improved significantly. I'm going to start re-enabling location services to see if it makes a difference. Of course, maybe some Google Service update fixed the battery bug in the background without my knowledge too...

Play services and store seems to have settled down for me after the update. I had the guru installed in beta and didn't notice much of a difference, but I'll give it a shot again.

My battery life has been so helter-skelter it's not even funny. For months, my battery life was great. I'd use 1/2 the battery in a day. Then the update came through that "fixed" the SIM card error (I've had two since hence the quotes) and my battery life was garbage for two weeks. Then my battery life was great for a couple weeks and now it's garabage again. GSAM says the kernel is using 1/2 my battery life. HTC battery stats blames it on Google Services. I'm quickly growing dissatisfied with this phone.

Do you have the latest version of google play store? It seems to have largely fixed my google services drain issue.

What's the latest version? I show 4.1.6..........OK see it is 4.1.10. Why hasn't it updated automatically I wonder?

It will be eventually, but go get it now anyway. HUGE difference for me today.

downloaded it last night

Well after I downloaded the Play update my battery life was still garbage. Today, I noticed the calendar for my Google Apps account was not syncing. I drilled down through the menus and found that the phone was having some sync issue so I deleted that account and re-added it. Since then, battery life has been much improved.

I have discovered the secret of this phone's battery. Simply put : usage. So true, it is, that I'm going to turn it off and not use it at all.

Dang thing should last all week.

:-)

This is after the recent new Maps update. Maybe a coincidence, but I never get this kind of performance.
