Regrets

Anyone also going to get the new iphone x plus or whatever it is called?

No. I used to be a huge iPhone fan and bought every iPhone except for the iPhone 5 and the X. I've been selling all my old iPhone models on various sites because I don't like where Apple is headed. No headset jack, no finger print sensor and they insist that this whole face ID thing is the best way ever to unlock a phone.

Android OS has gotten so good these last few years that I could easily just use it exclusively now and I love Samsung phones. I just wish I could cure my phone addiction because I have too many. I paid for my Note 9 by selling some older phones.

Not yet, however only 2 days of use. Still have the Z2 Force as a back up. Took a day to stumble through the Samsung settings. Always had Moto phones and so I made the leap. Hoping for a soft landing as the wallet was hit hard!

Tons of Settings. Not the type to let them be without checking. Missing Manual for Note + Oreo? I miss the days when computers had a 400 page manual, even if had to pay extra.

Some of the reviews I've found helpful - and I've used Android since Note II (every battery went bad after less than a year), my S7 went belly up on 3rd day. The Note 8 was first Android I was happy with, except placement of fingerprint next to lens.

This is my 5th Samsung, 9th Android - some BlackBerry and Mate 9, plus 4 iPhones thrown in the middle.

Samsung's user manual for the unlocked Note9 is 214 pages; carriers' versions are probably even longer.

My Note9 512GB is the device I've been waiting on for at least 5 years, easily. I only have one complaint about it so far. It's minor but it's about such a needlessly, deliberately stupid and indefensible choice by Samsung that it's a festering irritation. I bought my Note9 512 direct from Samsung, carrier unlocked. Samsung has already confirmed for me they deliberately chose to remove the Android code from its camera support to shut off the artificial camera shutter noise they place in their builds of the firmware. They try to argue that this is because some countries make it illegal for them to provide a device that doesn't make a sound when it's being used to take photographs, but they are plainly lying. They have to be. If they honestly were trying to address that as an issue of concern, they would not allow muting the system sounds completely to suppress the artificial camera shutter noise. Which it in fact does, and which they readily provide as their 'solution' to not including the option to just disable the camera shutter noise itself. So, as much as Samsung can sometimes (FINALLY) get enough right with a power-user's device like the Note9, they can still continue to find ways to destroy user satisfaction just as successfully. It's just stupid of them. Still leaves me happy to consider other manufacturers, if any ever show an interest in making a device to compete directly with these. Sorry, Samsung. I wish I could give you more loyalty. The ball for that is always in your court.
Not that I care to turn off the shutter sound, but the option is available on my Verizon Note 9. Looks like maybe the issue is with your carrier and not Samsung. Screenshot_20180907-190958_Camera.jpg

You have an interactive manual right at your fingertips? Who needs a book?

I liked the idea of ebooks, but in the end stopped using Kindle and prefer a book I can hold, flip pages and jump around. Even html can be better.

Even bought laser printer - to think it would've cost over $12k 20 yrs ago to do what it does.

David Pogue does Missing Manual series that have been updated and run 900 pages. Gifts to family and friends even though using Apple computers, phones. The manual for Word 3.02 also taught all about computer systems.

TILs were bread and butter in Army and later IBM systems. I like knowing what's under the hood.
The Note 9 is like a sports car of phones perhaps.

Meh. I came from an iPhone 7 plus and even consider going back to that. Might not be as fast, has a lesser display but at least it keeps going all day.
Disagree. You've had problems with your device and have made that known in several threads. It's clear given other users experience with the note 9 that yours isn't right. You had the opportunity to give it back but didn't. So live with it or change to a device you are happier with.

I regretted it from day one. Battery life is just awful, must be the worse I have ever had in a phone.

I get about 15-16 hrs battery life with 3 hrs screen on time. Samsung and the store won't do anything about it... I can't return it because I had to cut out the barcode in order to get my trade in deal... Paid 1000 euros for a phone that won't even last a day of light use.

Clearly you don't have your phone setup right or a defective phone. Actually 15-16 hours with 3 hours of screen on time is about right. This phone destroys my iPhone 8 plus or X I had in battery life. Are you trolling? I think you are per your post history.
