Hi, seems a common mistake - deleted calendar storage - but can't find an answer to my specifics elsewhere...

I have found an apk file for Android 4.4.2, which should be suitable for my Samsung Galaxy S5, downloaded it, but when I try to install, get 'not enough space' messages.

There is plenty of space, but I've tried deleting apps, cleaning out caches, etc. I have been able to install other apps no worries, but not the Calendar storage that I need.

Anyone got a fix for me please??

Welcome to Android Central! Since Calendar Storage is a system app, I assume your phone is rooted. Therefore, I moved this to the S5 Rooting forum, where you'll have a better chance of getting an appropriate answer.

If you are rooted and took the sensible precaution of making a nandroid backup prior to making system modifications to your phone or, if you have installed Titanium Backup, you can easily restore your sytem using these. Otherwise, you will need to re-flash your custom ROM.

If you are not rooted you can download the stock Samsung firmware for your model of phone and Product Code and flash it via Odin to your particular model of Galaxy S5 phone by following the instructions and video contained in the links of #1.11 of 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

Is it possible to delete Calendar Storage on an unrooted phone?

Well spotted B. Diddy. Just checking to see if you were paying attention. :D I award you one BitDrink, (same as BitCoin but in alcohol format).

This goshdarn AC forums text editor really needs a beer emoji.:p

Thanks guys, on googling this, I thought maybe I could just copy files from another Galaxy phone? Happen to have one with same android system... Where would I copy the files TO on my fone, to try that?? Also can't see the calendar folder(or most folders) in the device data/data folder on my computer, only on the phone, so can't seem to copy them to my computer...

^Rooted stock, I think. I have only rooted it, not installed another OS or anything, fi that's what that means.

Anyway... FINALLY think I've sorted it, with lots of stuffing around. Above instrucs(thankyou) weren't that easy, because I couldn't find the appropriate firmware for my model number. Odin also didn't work for me, for some reason. Then I found advice that Samsung Kies program(like an itunes for android) would make it happen. Alas not. It wouldn't recognises my device, said I had to reinstall device driver... after which it still wouldn't work, told me to install other kies program... which wouldn't work either. Then, happened to notice in one corner of the Kies prog, it said 'if device unrecognised, try installing 'Smart Switch'.

Touch wood, Smart Switch seems to be working. I'm currently doing a full backup with it, then I can 'restore system' & it should reinstall everything missing & update the platform. Here's hoping!
