I don't know why the release date is such a secret, but Sprint held that crazy press conference to announce the Echo, so I'm sure that Sprint didn't want to create competition for this phone on it's release weekend.
That part I understand, but why they can't just give us a date?
Na, I think we'll know a date shortly after the echo is released. I just think they don't want to steal the Echo's thunder. They're going to have a hard enough time moving those things without worrying about competing with the Nexus.Maybe Sprint doesn't know? Maybe it's all on Google hands?

It's hard to stick with sprint for this almost 6 month old phone release when tmobile just released the g2x

I hear what you're saying, but here's how I see it:
The Nexus feels lighting fast. I don't think that anyone can argue that the phone can stand up to any phone currently on the market in terms of speed and stability. It feels on par or better than any phone I've used. There may be a few beasts out there can take a few speed tests over the Nexus, but then you have to worry about compromising battery life.
IMHO, the nexus is a balanced choice that should retain it's rep as a good phone 1-2 years in to the future. I realize in a year there will be a whole new class of phones out, with new specs... but we're talking about a Nexus here. Google will support it, it will get the latest software updates, and I will feel like I have a top-of-the-line phone until a new Nexus comes out. Then I will be mad at sprint for six months for not picking it up, before being forced to go with the Evo3.
I agree with you on the Nexus being supported by Google. When I talked to my friend that works for Sprint tech support, he said it would be out in May. I thought to myself that he didn't know what he was talking about because of all the 4-18th dates that kept showing up everywhere. Now I think that he is probably right. It makes since that Sprint will wait until after the launch of the Echo. Good news is that by next month I might just have enough money saved to just buy it off contract without a 2 year extension with Sprint![]()
and with the Echo this weekend, and the Replenish coming May 6, that gives Sprint a two week window to have the Nexus released.... Heres hoping anyway....

Honestly, as long as it comes out in the next month and a half I'll be ok with that.
Easy for the guy that already has the Evo to say... Those of us with tired launch-day Pre's are getting anxious!![]()
