Me too, except I kind of saw the GN as the first phone that could really stand toe to toe with my webOS phone. Of course Android already has better hardware and more apps than webOS, but I never liked the UI. ICS is a big step in the right direction. It's the first phone to make me seriously consider switching platforms. At this point if it's not the Galaxy Nexus, I'm keeping my trusty old Palm Pre and waiting for something better than the current Android, Windows and iPhone offerings. I can get better hardware anywhere, but ICS on a Nexus what I want. When they made their announcement back in October I kind of saw the GN as the first phone that could really stand toe to toe with the iPhone for a lot of people. Obviously most of us here prefer Android for our various reasons, but for a lay person not familiar with smart phones I thought the GN might be a real serious alternative.
Not that I am defending VZW, but come on, they are way more competent than the Post Office and DMV (apologies to those in those areas). VZW has its issues, and its red tape, but they can, and will make exceptions. Several years ago I had issues with their incompetence, but finally got it resolved through persistence and a letter to the CEOs office. I am pretty sure the Governor wouldn't answer my mail about the DMVYeah, I'm probably guilty of that. However, I've learned over the years never to assume the competence of large organizations. They reach a certain point and then run on inertia more than anything else.
As long as Verizon keeps dotting the land with more cell towers than AT&T, they can pretty much run the rest of the business on auto-pilot. The only aspect of customer satisfaction they appear to have any interest in is strength of signal. Does any customer have warm feelings towards big red? It's like dealing with the Post Office or the DMV, but more ruthless.
I don't look to businesses for warm feelings. LOL
Well no, but I also don't see much positivity for Verizon here among its very own customers.
I don't have anything negative to say about Verizon, they have the best network in my area and I have no issues. Could they have cheaper prices...yes, could they give release dates sooner...yes, but overall they are still the best in my market so I guess that I'm happy and positive.
Couldn't have said it better myself Larry.
Why do so many people on these forums feel that they are smarter than everyone else? I mean I keep reading posts that suggest that we who are on these forums are the only people who know about or want the Nexus. Like all the "other people" are stupid and will buy a Razr or Rezound and the really smart people are the ones holding out for the Nexus. Think about it this way. Nexus or no Nexus, Samsung makes the phone. Samsung happens to sell more smartphones and televisions than any other company in the world. People know who they are. I would be willing to bet that when Verizon releases this phone, it will crush HTC, LG and Moto. That's probably why they are waiting (not an original thought), but to me that makes NO business sense. Put your best horse in the race as quickly as you can. All the people who say that Verizon is a multi-billion dollar company and "they must know what they're doing!" Not necessarily. If Verizon does not want to cannibalize Razr sales because of the Nexus, then why did they cannibalize the Bionic with the Razr? When you put out the best phones on the best network, you win. Please tell me how it makes sense that the #1 smartphone maker in the world has arguably the worst lineup on the best network (Ok, LG is worse). But you get the point. I have read countless posts arguing that it is unethical to "rent" a phone, and it drives up costs. It takes two to tango. By Verizon waiting forever to release the Nexus only ADDS to their costs because of returns. Put out the best product and let the consumer decide. Give the "99%" or whatever the ability to decide for themselves. People must realize, Verizon is concerned with phone activations, not phones. Not releasing the Nexus is costing them ACTIVATIONS and market share. I don't think they realize it.
Nexus aside there's still things to complain about. Terrible customer service, overpriced phones, and bloatware. Oh, and bad commercials!
That's my point. Why wouldn't you advertise that you have the latest version of Android running on the world's #1 selling smartphone on the US' fastest network?Has nothing to do with being stupid, has everything to do with advertising and what will be pushed. You think if apple did have the advertising they did everyone would want an iphone as badly as they do? Even old grandma's see how easy IOS is to use with the ipad commercials and think they need one.
That's my point. Why wouldn't you advertise that you have the latest version of Android running on the world's #1 selling smartphone on the US' fastest network?
I'm not talking about GoogleBecause google doesn't really ever advertise the nexus. To them it is not a main stream phone like the iphone and aimed more towards developers. I do not think google cares enough what phone you have as long as it's an android since they make most of their money off of their google services and searches.
I'm not talking about Google
Isn't that the point of a business? You think the carriers are going to advertise it? bahahha that is too funny. Look at verizon for example now. They are doing the exact opposite because they make some extra $$$ off the bloat they install on the razr and rezound for example and giving the nexus the 3rd degree. It is all about making money with these companies.

That's my point. Every day they don't release the Nexus is another day they lose money because most people are not going to switch carriers for a Razr or a Rezound. They will for a Nexus. Also, do you know how much money Verizon makes on bloatware? I don't. I would imagine that NFL mobile is about the ONLY bloatware that is profitable. I will install that on my Nexus and pay for it. Let's see if you agree with this:You think the carriers are going to advertise it? bahahha that is too funny. Look at verizon for example now. Let's see if you agree with this:
1. Android as an operating system currently has the most market share.
2. Ice Cream Sandwich is/will be the best Android operating system to date.
3. Samsung currently sells more smartphones than any other manufacturer.
4. Verizon wireless, on average, has the best network (voice and data)-reasonable people can disagree but I bet Verizon thinks so.
I am assuming you agree with all 4 of these statements. Now, ask yourself:
WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU NOT WANT TO RELEASE IT AND/OR NOT MARKET IT?
This is what we call logic. Any attempt to do otherwise is poor business management. Plain and simple.
