Release Dec. 8th?

Well it is verizon we are talking about and logic does not go well with verizon. I agree that they should want to sell it but it's the fact that they have little control over it is the reason they are doing this. Plus by letting the hype build up that is free marketing right there for verizon.
What do you mean they have little control over it? Verizon could release it right now. Not having it in time for Black Friday is just plain dumb. It's only the biggest shopping day of the year. Hype and and dollar will buy you a cup of coffee. If that were the case, they wouldn't need to market anything. I believe you said it yourself that marketing drives phone sales. Not lack of it. Instead of marketing crap in a box, they could market the 1.2.3.4. that I stated in my earlier post.

My source at Verizon said she only knew it would release prior to Christmas. I think beyond that it will just be a nice surprise.

with locking it down, adding bloat, and updates.

Nexus aside there's still things to complain about. Terrible customer service, overpriced phones, and bloatware. Oh, and bad commercials!

Of the four listed, the bolded one is the only one that IMO is reason enough to leave a company behind for someone else. If you are sick of their bad customer service, but you don't quit supporting them, you are, in essence, being hypocritical, at least as I see it. A phone is a phone, but customer service is (or should be) the name of the game when it comes to keeping someone's business. And with the Nexus being made available on the other networks, there's no excuse to use about "Verizon has the only one".

Sprint has by far the worst Customer Service on the PLANET! I haven't had to call customer service yet for Verizon. I have nothing to complain about or report so in essence, it has been great for me. If you complain about prices, well, you get what you pay for.

Sprint customer service has actually been ranked very highly over the past year or two. It is not like it used to be. I've actually gotten much better service from Sprint than I ever got from Verizon.

I had the same experience with Sprint. Their billing was wrong every month necessitating a phone call which more often then not didn't fix my problem. I have to say that one of the reasons I have stuck with Big Red so long (besides the network being the best in my area) is their customer service. They have always gotten my problem (whatever it is) solved in one phone call, fixed billing issues and completed it with good cheer and respect to me. I would never switch carriers. I am frustrated with this release just like all of you here in this forum, but switch carriers to get a certain phone? Not a chance.

Just trying to get inside Verizon's head. What if the Bionic was badly delayed which put it too close to the Razor and Rezound. They could quickly see that the Bionic was a dog via return counts. This leaves them with commitments for delivery on X number of 4S, Razor and Rezound units that are in their possession. The iPhone is selling so no problem there but they are staring at a lot of unsold units of the others. If it is true that they think the Nexus will crush or curtail sales of these unsold units....
If you were Verizon what would you do? I doubt that Moto and HTC are like Wal-mart and give a full refund. Just saying that when in business sometimes a crappy choice is all you got. I hate the delay but I will wait it out. It probably wouldn't help their position if they leveled with us anyway.

I switched in June. I can assure you, their customer service hasn't improved, they just got rid of their complainers (or they just left like me).

sigh, okay, you're right and consumer reports and the rest are wrong, lol. There are horror stories when it comes to customer support for every company. I can assure you that i personally have had much more trouble with Verizon. I have heard many more complaints personally about Verizon. Bottom line is every company has good and bad employees.

I'll actually be surprised if Verizon makes the 8th. They're all in now. It's obvious that Verizon doesn't care when the phone comes out. They're not worried about customer outrage. There's not another phone coming out in December they care about. They want the Razr to be the holiday phone.

I'd say they care if they pushed it back into testing to work on the OTA fix for the software issue that popped up. Given the relationship of VzW & Vodaphone, seems they care enough to not want to unleash a buggy device to the bill paying public on launch. That's happened in the past shortly after release, doubt they want to sell the phone bad enough to deal with that headache if the issue is already known and remains unfixed.

.....I am assuming you agree with all 4 of these statements. Now, ask yourself:

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU NOT WANT TO RELEASE IT AND/OR NOT MARKET IT?

This is what we call logic. Any attempt to do otherwise is poor business management. Plain and simple.

Your saying you want them to release the device knowing full well that there is a software bug, that emerged before the release, that does not have a fix, as yet. That is not exactly the smartest move they would make, imo. If it wasn't discovered pre release it wouldn't hold up the launch. Unfortunately, is was brought to light beforehand, so they have to hold off until the fix is satisfactory.

p.s. the bug in question is specific to the SCH-I515, not the GT-I9250 model. Which sheds light on Verizons release. Vodaphone is witholding cuz of the known bugs that popped up in the gsm/, as I understand it.

If, as most of the recent rumblings indicate, the delay is about a buggy phone, then that makes all this talk about protecting the Razr/Rezound/4s/Whatever moot, doesn't it? Releasing a flawed phone would generate much worse press than keeping their mouths shut until it's ready. So, I'll just have to wait for what I'm sure will be a badass phone on a badass network...delayed gratification builds character (or so I keep telling myself).

To which bug(s) are you referring?

Its not Verizon's baby. What if they release a phone with little to no bugs and google pushes an update full of bugs. Is verizon going to refund us all money? Hells no. And Google will push fixes relatively fast. From the rumors, its not even Google's fault. Google released information months ago on how to update apps to be ICS compatible. The SDK to test such apps had been released a while ago to test such things. If verizon can't update their crappy apps, why should the rest of us suffer? This whole things has to do with money, don't let anyone else tell you different. Personally, I don't care much. I'll wait. I actually hope it releases after next wednesday since I work until then. I can't go to any Black Friday events.

I don't believe it's plural, just one. Which has something to do w/ the inclusion of a late addition of an .apk, they threw on there after the large scale testing wrapped. Originally, heard it via an xda forum, but it's popped up elsewhere. I'd assume they didn't expect an issue from it but they got one.

Except some testers on twitter said that wasn't the case and the phones were ready..
