I have the same issue with my Samsung S20. A useless feature that takes the place of useful information. I haven't found a way to turn it off yet.

That's just what the stock phone app does. It means that you still have an active call and it's a way to pull the full phone app back up when you need it.

It doesn't take up that much space and it does go away when the call is done.

It used to be a much bigger green call banner across the entire top of the screen.
