Remove unread badge icon from Apps?

How do I completely remove the unread badge icon from the apps with unread messages/notification (i.e, Email, Facebook, etc)? I'd prefer not to have the number of unread messages in the circle on the upper right corner of the app icon. Couldn't locate how to permanently undisplay this in settings or notifications, and all I have been able to do is temporarily remove it via a long press and selecting "clear badge". Would like to find an option to choose to display it or not (preferably not).

Anyone else have this issue and locate a solution? TIA

You could try Settings|Apps|[select your app]|turn off Notifications.

I did try that - it's placing the badge icon on the apps even with that app's notification turned totally off. But thanks for the advice though ☺

I believe she's looking for a way to stop badges altogether for specific apps. I know I have badges appearing on my email icon but I have shut down all notifications for this specific app.

The only way I know how is to use a different launcher altogether.
