Removing recent apps in app drawer

May be a dumb question but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it. I keep forgetting erasing Google data erases everything you've done in your phone and I've done everything to my liking except removing the recent app section of the app drawer.

Can some please remind me how you do this?

Sorry, but what do you mean by removing recent apps? The App Drawer only shows you what's currently installed. The Recent Apps button brings up your Recent Apps list. Are you asking how to clear all recent apps from that list?

Do you mean the app suggestions on top of the app drawer? If so, open the Google app, tap on settings in the side menu and switch app suggestions off.
