repeat notifications for text messages

is there a way to have the notification tones for text messages repeat every 10min or so until it is viewed? I sometimes miss messages because I don't hear the initial tone.

What app are you using? I use Handcent SMS. In Handcent you go to Settings-Notification Settings- Notification Settings- Enable Reminders

there's a handy little app that runs with a very small footprint called "missedcall" -- I know your question was regarding sms. but, this is handy for missed call reminders as well.
