Replace your Nexus 10 battery

Thanks very much. I found this website so they must be lying.

I bought from cellphone-repair-shop on ebay. They have sold 5 in the last 24 hours. Mine is due on March 7. Tune in then.
I'm not sure I understand their return policy. It seems to say I will be charged a 20% restocking fee even if it arrives DOA.
Does anyone know how to determine if there is a charge on the battery before installing it?

Bought a battery from cellphone-repair-shop on Monday and the battery arrived on Friday. Installed on Saturday. The battery is a oem Samsung with a manufacturer date of 7/2014. Install was easy, did not lose any data. The battery came with a charge of 85 percent so I have not put the tablet on the charger yet.

You are teasing everyone... Which repair shop? How much was the battery?

crxssi - search for cellphone-repair-shop on ebay. $47.74 - now 65 sold. I can't post a link yet.
My order is due Friday March 6.
Richard thanks for the date. cellphone-repair-shop never answered my question on date.

Oh, I didn't know it was actually a vendor name! I presume this: Samsung P8110 Google Nexus 10 Tab Replacement Tablet Battery 9000 mAh SP3496A8H | eBay

I generally detest dealing with Ebay/PayPal.... thankfully I am not in the market for a battery now (since I swapped it out with one at work). Too bad they don't have an Amazon presence.

Sorry for the confusion on the Ebay store. Here is a photo of the new battery. So far the tablet is working / charging great.

Well that certainly looks a hell of a lot newer/cleaner/reasonable than the crap I was sent from China/AliExpress which totally failed.

So is this an exact match for the original nexus battery or is it a battery from another samsung tablet that happens to work?

Thanks for this thread. For months my Nexus 10 has gone from 25% charge immediately to 0. The percentage it cuts off has slowly been getting higher until now its almost 50%. I'm looking at the battery on eBay. I was wondering your opinion on instead getting a RAVPower 15000mAh external charger for less money and just using it.

The replacement batteries appeared to be hard to come by before the Ebay vendor was found. Once those are sold there is not certainty as to where to get the OEM battery. After the replacing the battery the Nexus 10 operates like new. I have only charged it once since the battery was installed and the meter is showing 2 days left on the current charge since being off the charger on Monday morning. Average use of 2 to 3 hours per day.

You might consider purchasing the replacement OEM battery while you can still get it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Yeah that makes sense. I don't want to screw around until they are all gone and I can't find them anymore. Just placed my order.

I also have placed my order. I never installed the one I have here from Ali Express, didn't want to bother.

Can you all post your favorite link for installation instructions?

This is the only one I've been able to find and his hands are in the way a lot..

It is what I used. The procedure is easy, except for getting that back off! Takes a lot of work and messing :) Once you have done it once, though, repeating it is much easier.

I followed that video and replaced my battery last night. So far so good, but I can't really say anything about the longevity yet. Here is what I wish the video had mentioned:

1) You should take ESD precautions if you can, like working on an anti-static mat. I did not and it turned out fine, but with those flex cables flying around I was pretty nervous.

2) Power your tablet off before starting. I forgot... stupid, I know. Again, no harm done, but better safe than sorry.

3) The battery connector is a bit non-intuitive. It snaps *down* into the socket like a jigsaw puzzle piece. If you didn't know that you might think it pulls out parallel to the board like most connectors. I found the easiest way to dislodge it was to gently pry under the battery wires on each side, right next to the connector. When I put the new one in I bent it upward so it would not make contact until I was done re-inserting the other flex cables and putting the screws in. Then I snapped the battery connector in last. Make sure the top is completely flush or it won't be fully seated.

4) When re-inserting the flex cables, it's easy to think they're in all the way when they're not. Make note of how they look when you first open up the tablet (maybe take a picture).

Thanks Mark. Good info to know.

Well this sucks. Received my battery today from cellphone-repair-shop and due to the poor protection in shipping it was damaged. I emailed the seller and requested a refund or replacement. battery 1.jpgbattery 3.jpgbattery 4.jpg
