I bought my nexus through GameStop, can I have my screen replace? I have had my nexus for the last 10 months and is worked fine. Today i went to the park and was carrying my nexus in my pants pants (like I normally do) trying out google's "My Tracks" it worked great, but I for got to turn off Wi-Fi and it killed my battery. Some where along the five hours I was there I must have sat done or some something to crack my screen. What I really want to know is can I have it replaced or do I have to buy a new nexus?

You can replace it but it's not cheap considering what you likely paid for the device. To replace the screen on it you have to replace both the LCD and the Digitizer(the top layer that you probably broke) together as an assembly. The parts cost roughly $130 but the repair itself is pretty straight forward.

Here's a link for the parts from an extremely reliable, high quality vendor... Asus Google Nexus 7 Tablet LCD Assembly
And a teardown if you do want to fix it yourself... Nexus 7 Teardown - iFixit You can also find video's im sure.

On the flip side, you could contact Google or Asus and inquire about them repairing it for you. Might be a little more expensive and take longer but that way you won't have to get your hands dirty or worry about breaking anything.

ok, cool thanks for the information. Now if I do a full backup of everything will that save all my settings, passwords and information for my apps? Any word on what's in the 2nd ged or when they will come out? I may just hold off and port everything over to a new device.

It depends on how you back it up. If you can still use the tablet you could download My BackUp Pro to back up everything from settings to app data and reload it onto a new device.
I don't know if you have a custom recovery or not but if you do you could make a nandroid backup and that literally makes a mirror copy of your device, I believe.

And i'm not too sure what a 2nd ged is...

He means "2nd gen" as in the 2nd generation, i.e. the next version of this device. As to that and what it will bring, all we have are pretty weak rumours none of which I'd put money on.
