Is this possible with oreo/pixel? Came from iOS since the s8 and now have the note 8 and that's pretty much the only thing I miss from iOS. I use Textra for my texting app but all other apps don't allow this, when I swipe down and hit reply it makes me unlock my phone.

Good thing they removed it. What kind of security nightmare is that? Android can reply from the notification shade. The phone has to already be unlocked though.

I don't agree. It should be an option, like everything else. Look at it this way. If I can choose to have my entire phone (all aps) unlocked in Android, IMO I should be able to leave 1 app unlocked (from the lock screen) if I want. Android now allows content to show on a locked lock screen, allowing replies - with a user opt-in - should be an option IMO.

I think you can have a workaround by using Chat Head apps (apps that put a chat head on everything) like Notifly, DirectReply, QuickReply, nBubble, etc.

So I'm guessing it's still the same? Man that sucks. An option would be perfect. I found a tutorial online for Samsung devices and adb to allow it, but it doesn't work.
