Am getting a Nexus 9 so wife is inheriting my N7.

Want to wipe most if not all programs and hope it starts to run faster. Some programs i don't want to get the updated versions so planned on not uninstalling them. Want to leave it set up with my name and google account as well.

Suggestions on best method would be appreciated.

I If you are going to keep the same Google account and some apps with older versions you just need to do a bit of manual clearing.

Go to downloaded apps into the settings and start uninstalling everything you don't want to keep.

Some apps are going to leave some "leftovers" after uninstalled. Don't ask me why :) . You can avoid that installing ES file Explorer before hand to help you. Or when you finish download some app like clean master to do that (my recommendation is to uninstall this clean master type of app after clearing any leftover file). ES file Explorer is a good app to keep though.

Clear data in every app with a personal account you don't want to pass (email, browser, notes app, AC forum ...).

When done wipe the cache partition in recovery mode. No data deleted but could improve performance and battery life.

Another way to approach it is to do a full factory reset without the Automatic Restore option. Usually, if you leave that option on in Settings>Backup & Reset, then when you log back into your Google account, all of your apps will automatically reinstall. If you uncheck it, those apps shouldn't reinstall by themselves, giving you more control.

Thanks for the input. On hold as I am not sure I will keep the N9
