Question Restore display of Google Search history

Weeks ago I found the setting to turn off display of my recent Google Search history (in the search bar on my home page) & now can't find how to restore it. Android 13 on Samsung S20 FE.

The search page hides my search history from me and when I click the link that says this is controlled from my settings I can't find where in the settings to restore this. The search history IS being saved but it's buried and very hard to navigate to in my settings only. I'm having to retype my searches over and over as each time I return to the search page from a linked page the search term is wiped out. Screenshot attached.

I got this back with great difficulty. The tick box in the settings as shown in this screenshot didn't want to let me select it, kept staying greyed out. After trying to select it about 10 times I was finally able to turn on "additional web and app activity" and the recent searches are again displayed below the search bar.
