Restore list view on Favorites

I just switched from a GS III to a Note 4 (AT&T) and the change of Favorites from a list view to thumbnails is a major step backwards. I can no longer swipe to the left to send a text message. How do I restore this to a useful state?

I don't know if this will help anyone but having the same non-list view favorites, I found that if I went to Groups and then Starred in Android, it comes up in a List View.

We need our favorites contact list back! Get rid of the tiles.

Since my Samsung S4 updated today, I no longer can see my favorites for phone calls, etc in a list. As the others on this board have said, the tiles are difficult to work with. You have to hit a tiny "i" for each contact to be sure you have the right person. I already called someone in error because the full contact name no longer appears. Frequently Contacted remains as a list but this doesn't help as they are random contacts, some just emails etc. This is a ridiculous move to look cool but it's not practical. Can we start an online petition to get our list back???

Samsung tech support confirmed that no setting exists after the last update. It may be added on future updates. The "Starred in Android" group in Contacts also does not function. It says "No Members". She suggested that they be added manually to the group, or any group for that matter, until it's resolved. Sorry people!

I have just updated my Samsung Galaxy s5 (SCH-1545) and now my Favorites view is icon and I want it back to the list.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just purchased Note5 and S6Edge running 5.1.1 - missing Favorites listview - somewhat disappointed. Nevertheless, searched Play Store and downloaded a dialer app, TruePhone. Pretty cool

yes this is really annoying on my S6 edge. i thought they would fix this with the new 5.1.1 update.

I think I found a work-around for this issue. This applies to my Samsung Galaxy S5 mini. Open contacts, hit the twin head-and-shoulders icon located on the ribbon to open the groups menu. Select favorites and a list view (small photo icon, left of the name) is shown. Swipe right to call, left to text. Not great when navigating between contact lists, but if you're in the favorite list the majority of the time it works fine.

Go to contacts press the head and shoulders below the highlighted contacts in the upper right hand side of the screen, press integrated groups, scroll down to Starred in Android and all of the favorites are in list view and in alphabetical order.

DOH! That was the trick - I'd tried groups before but was looking for "Favorites" not "Starred in Android"
