I messed up the EasyTrail pictures folders, and I want to restore them. I have backups with Google and Xiaomi Cloud.
In particular I found the file EasyTrails(com.zirak.easytrails).bak in the backups and I'm sure it contains all the data I need it's (24mb size ).
The problem could have probably two solutions:
1)I could open and extract the files from the bak file, but I don't know which app to use??
2) I could use a dedicated app for a partial recovery to restore from the backup ONLY the app folder I'm interested in.
anybody help?

Welcome to Android Central forums. I did a quick Google of your question and found this response which sounds like it may only work if the app allows it. Here is what I found.

To restore a single app from a Google backup, you'll need to reinstall the app from the Google Play Store and then restore its data from the backup if the app supports it. [1, 2, 3]
Here's a breakdown of the process:
1. Reinstall the App: [3]

  • Open the Google Play Store.
  • Search for and reinstall the specific app you want to restore. [3]
2. Restore App Data (if supported): [1, 2]
  • Check if the app supports Google backup: Some apps might not automatically restore data, so check the app's settings or documentation to see if it supports Google backup. [1, 2]
  • Open the app: Once the app is reinstalled, open it. [3]
  • Look for restore options: Some apps will prompt you to restore data from a backup when you first open them. Others might have a restore option within the app's settings. [1, 2]
  • Follow the app's instructions: If the app supports Google backup, follow the on-screen instructions to restore its data from your Google account. [1, 2]
Important Considerations: [4, 5]
  • Factory Reset: Restoring from a Google backup typically involves restoring your entire device, including apps, data, and settings. [4, 5]
  • Android Version: You cannot restore a backup from a higher Android version onto a phone running a lower Android version. [4]
  • App Data: Not all app data is backed up by Google, so some data might be lost during the restore process. [6, 7]
  • Contact App Support: If you have trouble restoring app data, contact the app developer or support for assistance. [6]
This video demonstrates how to restore apps from Google Play:

As far as your mention of getting a backup app and attempting to perform a backup restoration with pre-existing data, is probably not possible. Typically backup apps have their own way of storing and exporting the backup data that makes it unique to that app and probably wouldn't be compatible with another app's backup file. You might also check YouTube. If it has been done someone has posted about it.

Let us know what you find or if the Google instructions work.
