Restore Tab 10.1, Stock Recovery Wiped Out

I'm thinking of buying a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Verizon 4G LTE version) from someone on eBay. He says it got messed up while trying to root it, and the stock recovery mode got wiped out.

He also mentions something about how it only boots into "odin or download mode to add files", but that he can't do the recovery on his Mac - and he doesn't have a PC.

I'm pretty tech savvy and I might consider taking a shot at restoring it properly. Is there a site where I can download the necessary files, or any recommendation on where to take it if I decide it's above my head? I'm in the Los Angeles area.
