Hey, I'm running 2.6 nonvoodoo, and wanting to make the jump to 2.8 AND try my hand with voodoo. What do I have to make sure of before doing this? Or is it perfectly safe to flash voodoo over nonvoodoo (I know I've heard vice versa is not safe). Also, will I simply flash it using CWM or use odin? Thanks again! (A step by step breakdown would be great!)

Please use the search feature in this forum. If you had done a search for threads with putting the word voodoo in the search box, you would have come up with this thread:

Which gives you a step by step guide and also warns everyone that new rooters should probably stay away from voodoo until they are more comfortable flashing things in nonvoodoo. Oh, and it is also only two threads below this one in the stickies section.

If I download the red cwm file he links, then use his method coming from 2.6 sc nonvoodoo, to 2.8 voodoo, will I run into problems? He doesn't cover that, which is why I was asking. When Gunnermike53 was saying the voodoo method works for 2.1 and 2.2 he was referring to the Android operating system (OS) not the superclean ROMs. OS 2.1 is Eclair which is the stock build non rooted people are running right now. OS 2.2 is Froyo which is the leaked EB01 we are getting to play with right now. There should be no problems going from 2.6 sc nonvoodoo to 2.8 voodoo. But if you were confused by Gunner's reference to 2.1 and 2.2 thinking he was referencing superclean, especially considering he updated his thread on 3/3/11 and that is looooong after superclean 2.1 and 2.2, perhaps you are not ready to try voodoo. I am only saying this to try and help and protect you. It is much easier to make a mistake that will gork your phone in voodoo, so it is best to gain a firm knowledge and experience base in nonvoodoo before trying voodoo. Have you flashed a theme, kernel, add-on, or ROM by itself through clockworkmod recovery (cwm) yet? If you aren't fairly experienced and proficient at that, in my opinion it would be a very good idea to hold off on trying voodoo. But this is Adrynalyne's thread dealing with his superclean ROM and I don't want to cloud it up with posts about voodoo. Could you please move over to the voodoo thread and I will do my best to answer any questions you have? Thank you. Sorry Adry.

I've flashed numerous themes, roms, etcs through cwm, so it sounds like it should be fairly straightforward to me. Thanks for looking out for me, someone's got to . You can do that if you like, just do your best to post voodoo questions in the voodoo thread and only post in this thread with questions about the superclean ROM. Thanks and good luck.

hi love the work your are doing if i haven't said it enough thank you for all the work you guys are doing. Quick question, i went from 2.6nv to 2.8nv but when i make a phone call the 3g sign tends to disappear and won't come back until i hang up, is this normal?

its probably a change in the way the 3g icon shows up. IIRC, it used to do 1x instead of 3g before 2.8....i could be wrong tho

Got a question, may be dumb and I missed something. I am half asleep...or is that awake....anyway....

what does the drm_package do under the patches heading. Also any screen shots of what 2.2.1 Launcher looks like?

This is my first time root/mod/etc.(Newbie) You guys rock. Followed instructions and no hickups. Got brave and added theme Steel Blue V1.4 SC2.8 and things are running smooth.

Well it's your call. You can try the ODIN method one more time, or I can walk you through flashing the ROM in cwm.

I'm sorry for dragging my feet but somethin came up and i had to duck out..

its almost 4 am here and moma will be on me bad.. if we can i'll try to get with you sometime wed night .. i tried with Odin but the samsung usb drivers just wont load .. they always have some thing at the end that says incomplete so after i knew how to use odin and it has failed so yep clock work will be fine.. if ya have certain times you are here pm me and i'll try to get here .. i dont wanna waist anyones time,, i'm just about as new as fresh paint..

How you do open the tetris and nfs programs if you want to use just the demo version?

I go to manage applications and see that they are installed but i can't access them.

how do i go about to opening them? or should i just delete them because they are taking up space?

should they even be on my phone?

I have been reading through lots off threads and I am not quite sure what cwm I should be using. Right now I have the one that was bundled with the odin eb01 stock package 2.5. I want to flash the sc 2.8 but after all the 2.7 confusion with cwm I am not sure if I can flash with my current 2.5 cwm our if I need to upgrade to 3.0? Thanks, Matt.

No, you don't need to upgrade. You cannot flash 2.8 with cwm 3.0. You are fine with the cwm 2.5 that came with the ODIN package. For a further explanation read my post here:

I currently only have my weather and shortcuts and stuff on one screen and the other four are blank but I would like to swipe over to a calendar if possible. Thanks!

Mobile Date Keeps Disabling 2.6 and 2.8 Versions

Hello, I installed the SC2.6 and SC2.8 with the data wipe option and it works great at first, then after a day or two the Mobile Data keeps turning off and won't reconnect until I reboot, then it is fine for a while and then turns off again. Not sure what is wrong. I first started with the stock Verizon stuff with the latest update, ea28 i think and eclair. Should I never run the *228 stuff, would that be what is wrong? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, love the install but need the mobile data to work all the time. Thanks in advance for the help!

Ok, I rooted this Bad Boy and did rename some bloatware with sucess.
Now That I have my feet wet I decided to do some light reading on flashing the ROM. My interest is Superclean 2.8. I got a coouple of questions.

1. I'm assuming that flashing will cause a data wipe and application wipe on the phone. I have quite a bit of customization on my contact list and in Handcent. how long does it take to restore data? This used to be PITA where I loaded hybrids on my Storm 2.

2. Can I load SuperClean 2.8 over EA28? Or am I going to another kernal?

Last I knew the way to do that was to long press on the empty screen, choose widgets from the menu that popped up, then choose calendar.
