I updated to 2.9 non-voodoo today through CWM green 2.5.1.0 and it worked perfectly.

When I applied update.zip in CWM (Either blue or red) it brought me into green and it worked. Was the green CWM part of 2.8 SC?

I also loaded thinkfree.zip, and tw_videoplayer.zip through CWM green with no problems.

Green no longer works. I think you got lucky nothing went wrong. This is the correct red cwm-recovery-all you should be using MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service. You flash it through ODIN, but before you do, plug your phone into your pc with usb debugging enabled, mount the sd card and delete the update.zip file, it will just say update. Then unmount sd card, power off phone and flash the ODIN recovery file. Once you do that you will boot straight into red without having to go through stock blue and apply sdcard:update.zip. Not sure how you got the green as that hasn't been used since right after DL30 Froyo was leaked.

That being said I paid for TiBu Pro and I have heard a lot of people mentioning My Backup Pro because you don't have to be rooted before you use it so it is great for first time rooters to back up their systems. In addition, unlike TiBu which only backs up apps, My Backup Pro backs up pretty much everything - apps, contacts, text messages, system data. For that all in one feature alone I ponied up the 4.99 or whatever it was for My Backup Pro and will start using that now.

+1 for MyBackup Pro. It does, however, require root if you want to restore app data or market links. It's a lot more user friendly than Titanium Backup imo. Just have to be a little careful since certain roms seem to change the save point for the backups. On pre-DJ05, the backups were under a 'rerware' folder on the sdcard. Beginning with DJ05 up through EB01, something caused the location of the backups to be saved in an 'sd' folder on the sd card. When I switched from EB01 to SC 2.6, that location changed back to the standard 'rerware' folder on the sd card. Not much of a big deal until you get the message saying no backups found when trying to restore. If you're coming from a stock EB01 or DL09 to SC and get an error when trying to restore, all you need to do is move the contents of sd/rerware to the regular rerware folder. Hopefully that'll save people some frustration if they have that issue.

Yea my lights at the bottom are doing the same thing don't know about the noled I use it but I don't use the puzzle pace unlock.

I started with 2.8 and now went to 2.9 but still have the same issues. When pressing the power button to wake the phone, the bottom lights do not go on. They only go on once I press one of them, and even then they don't have the proper timer. This isn't a big deal for me, just more of an observation.

My problem is with NoLED functionality. When I press the home or back keys to wake up the phone, the puzzle lock screen usually has a green puzzle piece that lets me jump directly to the message. Since I've updated to SC2.8/2.9, the green piece does not show up until I cycle the screen off and then on with the power button.

I thought it might be a kernel issue with the buttons not responding properly, so I flashed the EB01 kernel, but still have the same problem. I came from SC2.2, and everything worked fine in that version.

Is anyone else having this problem? Any thoughts on how to fix it?

If I were you I would go back to stock DI01 and let Verizon update to EA28 so I had a fresh clean start. Then I would apply SC 2.9 and see if the problem exists. If not I would start setting up my apps one at a time checking in between to see if you loose the functionality.

If you get all your apps back on and settings without issue and your softkey lights are working then I would go into CWM recovery and get a nandroid backup. Then theme or do whatever from there.

Thanks, I hadn't noticed it, but now that you mention it, I have the same "issue". I know where the buttons are by now, so it's not too big of a deal.

That initially sounds like good steps, but as I told Suicide Shift over in the voodoo thread, you will probably be waiting several days to update to EA28 from Verizon. It takes a while for your phone and the update system to sync and realize you need the EA28 update. A better solution would be to use Adrynalyne's fix in this thread:

It will do a full deep wipe and you will only revert back to stock EB01, then you can immediately flash to 2.9 through cwm.
Or if you want to go all the way back to DL00 or DI01 you can use the instructions in DroidXcon's thread here:

After that you can go straight from DL09 or DI01 to sc 2.9, but you will need to flash cwm-all in ODIN MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service because you will lose it and revert back to stock blue recovery in the wipe.

Hey im running sc2.8 and just lost all my contact availability the app or folder or going to phone then contacts i get the 3 vibration force close should i just update to 2.9 and i also lost the steel blue theme market i reinstalled steel blue and market stayed original any idea ? ive also lost the ability to go into my task manager and had a reboot when trying to access it

Sounds like you downloaded a corrupted file or app. What have you added recently?

last app i added was MLB.com at bat lite and before that was gun bros thats all how is 2.9 reading threw here it sounds good to go should i jump up to that anyways ? i do love the steel blue theme so im wanting to keep that will it b ok with 2.9 ?

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this issue and don't remember seeing it mentioned before. Hopefully someone smarter than me knows about this and can help you out.
