I have been doing some testing on flashing themes and doing nandroid backups. So far no problems flashing anything and creating nandroid backups. Haven't tried to restore a nandroid backup yet. I have been doing all this through red cwm-all, the one without the white bitmap error messages. Which cwm do you have?

i have the red one with the white lettered bitmap error message as well i love the steel blue theme and want to put it back on but im worried ill lose my contacts and things again or is that not something that will b connected to it ?

As I've said numerous times, I'm not scared to go to voodoo. I don't think I would have any problems. I just don't see it being that much better. And like I've said over and over, when I discourage new rooters from going to voodoo I always say only until they gain some experience in nonvoodoo first. This is because actually going to voodoo is no problem and easy as long as you follow Gunnermike53's instructions. The transition is not where you are likely to cause problems and run into trouble. It is once you are actually on voodoo where it is easier to create a problem and cause serious damage, from what I've read. I try to advise new rooters to gain experience in nonvoodoo, especially experience in fixing and getting out of problems, because it is easier to cause problems and damage in voodoo and can be more difficult in voodoo, again from what I've read. Flash the wrong file or something incompatible in nonvoodoo - usually pretty easy to learn how to fix. Flash the wrong file or something incompatible, especially non voodoo over voodoo - big problem. So like I said, getting to voodoo - piece of cake. Not gaining experience and knowing what you are doing on nonvoodoo, then making a mistake because of that on voodoo - potential huge headache.

This is probably directly related to what I'm testing. A lot of us where getting all kinds of force close issues when flashing themes. So far it seems the problem is the red cwm with the error messages is not stable. If you have that one that means you are going through blue recovery first so here's what you do. Connect your phone to your computer and mount sd card. Go into the sd card directory and delete update.zip. Unmount sd card and power off phone. Pull battery, open ODIN, connect phone and flash this file MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service in ODIN. Sc 2.9 includes this stable red cwm-all which does not have the error messages, but you have to flash it in ODIN to overwrite the current unstable red cwm. Reboot phone and now when you boot to recovery you will boot straight to red cwm-all every time without having to go through stock blue recovery.

2.9NV Random Reboots

I have noticed when my phone randomly reboots, it does the 3 vibration (kinda spaced out over a minute or two) during which time the phone is unresponsive (screen blank, no response to buttons) then after a little bit the boot animation starts and the phone starts up again.

No, got it backwards. You extract a tar from a rar. Just leave this tar as is. Download it to your pc, the put the file directly in the pda section.

That is a force close problem. Something on your phone is not compatible or not loading or causing some type of problem. Good news is your phone is booting, so it is not a major problem. If it was something serious your phone would not boot. Let me answer a few other people I'm in the process of helping, then I'll read all your posts and see if anything jumps out at me.

I'm having the same issue. I'm running voodoo 2.9 after coming from 2.8v, no themes and regular launcher. I've had this random reboot happen 4 times now but each time it has only happened when the phone is locked.

Just flash in cwr, and disable/re-enable all your agps and gps settings on next reboot.
