[Retired][ROM]Superclean 2.9.2 EA15/EB01/EB16/EC10 Based

is it necessary to reboot after you flash the rom before flashing the theme? I did everything in order except reboot after flashing 2.9 ..before I rebooted, I went back to install from sd and flashed my new themes

You'll answer your own question if you get stuck in a boot loop. sometimes it works w/o doing it and sometimes it doesnt. If you flash more than one theme you'll most def end up getting a boot loop if you dont wipe your caches in between each theme.

just dalvic between themes. wipe cache isnt nessicary between themes unless you start getting fc's. but you WILL boot loop with themes after rom flash if you dont reboot first.

I did this yestrday and it booted right up like normal & haven't had any problems ..so I was just curious if I "needed" to reboot b4 after flashing my rom b4 I flashed themes ..guess I just got lucky this:) time but will remember to reboot before flashing my theme next time

When you see that message while you are in root explorer, look to the top of the page for a white box that says either R/O (read only) or R/W (read/write) click on it and you will be good.

This didn't work - was unable to toggle. I ended up doing a full wipe/full install and then I got it to work. Not sure why, but it just didn't like me. Thanks

Nice, very nice. I feel like I have a new phone!

You do! ;) (felt the same way)

Now that I have the fever for the flavor it's very tempting to wipe everything and flash this new version, but I'm quite happy with how everything is working atm so I may hold off ...

Like the poster a couple pages back mentioned - I've read mentions and half-mentions of the tethering and from what i can gather it's not really recommended at this point? It would really be nice - only to use in a pinch once in a while, but I don't want the creepy Verizon guy coming to my door.

People are being caught illegally tethering I gather - is this a temporary thing or have they somehow gotten wise to it all? Will I ever be able to "illegally" tether wirelessly or wired with no little or no fear of detection?

To the best of my knowledge they're not charging anyone for tethering illicitly at this point (it's not illegal). As for wired tether they don't even frown on that. Any corporate employee that makes a big deal of it is just on a power trip. The dummy tether modules included with the EB16 and EC10 kernels is intended to prevent them from being able to tell you're doing it anyway.

I assume the GPS fix that was in 2.9.1 patch is included in 2.9.2. My GPS has never worked so poorly as when I had 2.9.1 installed. I will give it a shot and report back.

I just did a cold start and got gps lock in 22 seconds...

The first lock with the GPS after loading up 2.9.2 was slow, several minutes. After that it has locked within 30secs each time I went to use it. I have both Google and GPS checked on in Location Settings but not Verizon.

Everything else seems to be working great. Thanks again Adrynalyne, your the man.

So I am almost, just about, nearly, going to take the plunge into Superclean. I currently have EB01 Deodexed/Debloated rom. I like it but from what I hear this EC10 kernel is great and version 2.9.2 is pretty stable. Anyway, my question is if I can flash the rom right over my current rom? I also have heard people having problems with launcherpro. I use Go Launcher, has anyone else had problems or succes with Go Launcher with 2.9.2? And finally, will a touch of blue theme work with this new superclean?

So what app is the best to teather with if we can't use the 3g hotspot?

In order to get your best GPS results, you have to have all 3 location services enabled. That was one of the fixes Adrynalyne did which is what has been giving everyone such improved GPS. He added Verizon GPS framework back in. Also from the Q&A section of the first post:

Q: Why does my GPS suck?

A: Samsung decided to change some things for the GPS in Froyo. I don't have the specifics, but in short, it doesn't work quite as well as it did for DL09. There is no longer a gpssetup app, although ephemeris data is still beuing pulled. I myself don't have too much issue, but some do.

Some tips that have helped others:

Turn on GPS from Settings, not QuickPanel, at least for the first time.
Make sure Google Location services is enabled.
Try to lock on, while outside.
Download GPS Aids from the market.

The EC10 kernel is not just great, it is giving incredible performance, and 2.9 and 2.9.2 are not pretty stable, they are unbelievably stable.

And in case everyone was not paying attention. The official Froyo release for the US Cellular Mesmerize was just announced and is available. The Mesmerize is basically the twin of the Fascinate as they both share the same model number SCH-I500. And what do you think the build number is? You guessed it EC10- the kernel we are enjoying so much. Just to refresh everyone's memory, the Mesmerize was released after the Fascinate, yet they are getting their official Froyo release before us. I would think that would remove any doubt as to the fact that the real culprit in the Fascinate Froyo release is Verizon and all the crap they want forced into the build.

Wireless tether is available from the App market. That one is pretty good. But the new Beta versions of the application, which is called Wi-Fi Tether only does tethering over Wi-Fi and not Bluetooth, is awesome because it does infrastructure tethering so you can hook it up easier to an iPod touch and other devices over Wi-Fi.

But can I flash 2.9.2 over my current rom of EB01 Debloated/Deodexed? And I was thinking the other day, isn't the Fascinate a developers dream though? Think about it, Verizon puts Bing in there, developers worked and took it out. They put the crapware in there. So they figured out easy ways to root to get rid of it. I mean, it just seems to me that while yes it is annoying, it has somewhat challenged our developers just a bit.

Sorry, got so wrapped up in my rant I forgot to cover the rest of your post. Yes you can flash 2.9.2 over the debloated/deodexed. Wouldn't hurt to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache prior to flashing. Do you have cwm-all installed?

Do you have cwm-all installed?

If you mean by installed, I have it on my SD card and when I boot into recovery I then click the update.zip in the blue menu and it takes me to the recovery. I have used this method every time I have flashed anything and it has worked like a charm. I am almost going to jump in, but I am a little hesitant.

Nope, that is cwm-froyo you have which will have the bitmap error messages in white. How were you thinking of jumping to 2.9.2, flashing the ROM in cwm, or using one of DroidXcon's packages?

DUH Me. You already told me which method you were going to use with your second to last statement there. Ok, so download the 2.9.2 zip file to your sd card, then download this CWM-ALL file to your computer, power off your phone, pull the battery, and flash the cwm-all file through ODIN. Then put your battery back in but don't power on the phone, hold the volume up, volume down, and power buttons until samsung flashes twice then immediately let go of all three. You will boot directly to red cwm-all without having to go through stock blue recovery. Install the 2.9.2 zip as you would any other zip through cwm.
