Retired the Pre, activated EVO 3D last night. One problem.

It was a bitter-sweet feeling to power down my Pre last night and activate my brand new EVO 3D. After activation I updated the EVO 3D to the latest PRL, firmware, software, etc. Any update I could find I applied it.

Everything is real nice so far. I did have one snag this morning while trying to download the LastPass and Xmarks apps. At the time I was using WiFi. I selected the apps and told it to download. I queued up both apps and then went to the Download screen to watch the progress. The apps were not downloading, they were just sitting there saying "Starting to download" or something like that. The progress bar was not moving at all. I let it sit like that for a few minutes. With no progress at all, I decided to turn off WiFi and go to 3G. As soon as my phone got 3G the downloads started immediately.

Are apps unavailable for download if using WiFi? I'm sure that's not the case, that would be really strange. I wonder why I could not download over WiFi, only 3G?

that is strange Rob.
if your wifi is set up properly and you can view the web and run pandora while using wifi then it must be some crazy setting burried deep in your phone that is not proper...others will have to help with this matter as I'm a noob. but make sure your wifi is set up properly and working first while you wait for a better reply.

It's not that strange, I have the same issue. A lot of people do actually. I have yet to find a fix for this. You can use Amazon to get apps until someone can get a solution.

Keep looking, and post back if you find one.

I've had the same experience but with different apps. I will just hit cancel and then tell it to install/download again. Always fixes the issue. I think your wifi connection just went dormant or the phone wasn't recognizing it or something. The apps should be downloadable over both wifi or 3G. Alternatively, you may also want to go into the advanced settings for wifi and set the sleep policy to "never."

Settings>Wireless&Networks>Wifi Settings>Menu>Advanced>Wifi Sleep Policy>Never. I also checked*Best Wifi Performance*. Hopefully it just timed out.

I have had this problem, too, but not very often. Turning off wifi then turning it back on always works for me.

Exactly. I know my WiFi was working because I was on the Android Market searching for apps, reading reviews, and whatnot. So strange. Don't worry, I am a total Android noob, too. I just left webOS after 2+ years.

Ok, so it may not be my phone then, just specific apps. I'll try the cancel and restart process next time. That didn't even occur to me. I'm brand new to all things Android. Heh, I couldn't even figure out how to get rid of my notifications. I kept swiping them, but that never worked. Didn't see the Clear All button until much later. Doh! :p

I'll try that, thank you.

I'll give that a whirl too, if canceling and restarting the download of the apps fails.

It's a market bug... and as stated stopping/restarting download works as well as restarting the data connection... Its not app dependent it just happens at random, no biggie...

The clear notification button not being there is also a bug which needs to be fixed
