Retrieve Your Paid Apps APK?

Hello. So you can run android applications now via chrome. Obviously such is still in beta and lots of applications may not fully work but regardless I wanted to play around with some. Turns out quite a few did and which is more they didn't seem to have any issues. To do so you need the APK file.

I would now like to try out some of my paid applications from the play store. Now obviously because they're paid you can't use a website like [inappropriate link removed by Moderator] to get the APK. Is it possible to retrieve said file from google play?

On your Android, You can use an app like Astro to backup apk

I tried astro but it seems most paid applications are marked as protected and can't be backed up. I read about using adb to recover applications. This does give me some files that the application uses but not all it seems?

Can you not recover paid applications without rooting?
