Hello android world, i just got the moto x 5 days ago which was a close call between the one and moto x; gotta love the mini surround sound movie theatre experience htc gives; but decided to go with the moto x because I thought the touchless controls would be used often but to be honest, it seems like a gimmick unless your showing it off to people and you feel cool for that 5 or 10 minutes, or your the laziest person in the world and are to lazy to reach across and pick your phone up.

I do heavy use like browsing and youtube and instagram, and barely get 3 hours screen time and 8 hours total battery time, and thats when I turn off most of the features, with brightness on 40%.

I know the htc one is only 100 mah bigger then the moto x but still. This question goes out to all the heavy users; can you tell me how your battery life is and what your usage consists of? Please and thank you.

UPDATE: and it doesnt hurt that fry's electronics has htc one for 79.99 for upgrade until tomorrow.

I do fairly well with streaming tunein, checking social feeds throughout the day and occasionally running Google maps while at work. I get home with about 30% left. I have about a ten hour day.

I have the HTC One for Verizon and if your not satisfied with the Moto X's battery life then the HTC One is out of question. The One isn't bad but with moderate usage I get 12-14 hours 2-3 hours screen time with wifi on when I can, 4G on, BT off, GPS off, sync on, screen 30%, no NFC

I was thinking about switching to the X but I hate the camera. In the end I am trading my One for a S4, which has slightly bigger battery, less case hardware issues, and IMO a better camera

Yeah, not sure why you're getting only 3 hrs from the Moto X. I get about 4 hours screen-on time with my One. Daily use is split between gym (videos or audio for 1 hr.), avg. 2 hours talking, and then gaming/browsing/email/texting rest of time. Overall, I probably get 6 hours reliably between charges. I keep brightness high - about 80%, and plug it in whenever I'm stationary. Without much use it lasts a long time.

As stated the battery in the ONE will not last as long as the x. I've only had the x for two full days but the battery life is already better. The way the device feels and operates in your hand is also much better on the x. I still love the one but after using the x for a couple of days the one feels very tall with bad ergonomics.

@benmadison I almost got the X because it has a great feel and is the same screen size as the One but much smaller since the one feels more rigid and is much longer. The thing that stopped me from the X wasn't the 720P screen or dual core processor but the stupid camera with auto focus. I know they were going for easy, but it is almost too basic and like some reviews say the software over compensates a lot.

For the battery for the One is dependent on so many factors. I have Verizon and their LTE is fast but sucks battery. If you were on T-Mobile or Sprint I would think you get slightly better battery since they have little to no LTE service compared to AT&T and Verizon. Also, factors like Verizon not including power saver mode. A rep says they built in power saver mode but I highly highly doubt it, it is probably just Verizon trying to get people to buy the Droid line which they advertise as getting great battery life.

In the end the One is arguably the best Verizon or heck Android phone still but I have had so many problems with my devices.

Yea you can't go wrong with either. I am a bit disappointed in the x camera but I'm hoping a software update could improve it. I don't take many photos on my phone so it's not a deal breaker for me.

The camera on the One has dissappointed me. It is supposed to take good low light shots but all my photos end up purple or blue (known issue). Daytime photos are fine so I guess I can tolerate it for the time being.

my last HTC One replacement had the purple blue tint and that was the last straw, I have switched to a S4 which doesn't do as well in low light but at least it doesn't replicate the wrong colors

The One has a very good camera for what its worth but for closeups it lacks details

Are you using the Motox X as your daily driver? How does the camera compare to Nexus 4? The Google editions? Have you tried any 3 party camera apps? Thanks!

I currently have a black HTC One and I really like the Moto X. Wish it was out in June wouldve gotten that instead of the One.

I get a good 18 hours on my own experience with moderate to heavy use.

I'm new to the One, but love it. I even went back to the store to play with the moto x and was not impressed.
It loses in sound (loudness and quality), screen (the One has unbeatable sharpness), UI (Sense is so smooth and professional looking plus it has blinkfeed, zoe, and video highlights which are all great.) Camera (the one took sharper photos).

Basically the moto x was faster when switching between home screens and had a smaller form. But all of the previously stated reasons are why I kept the one.

Its a gimmick unless you use it. I use the touch less control a lot at work. When I'm patrolling my maxx is in a phone holder facing me.. And if I need to make a call I can w out touching the phone. I don't believe its a gimmick.. It works well for me

I'm thinking of doing it the other way around. While I love the HTC One and feel like its by far the nicest phone out, battery life sucks. Don't listen to people on the forums claiming they get 20 hours on the One. Anyone can get those numbers, the key is what they never show you, the on screen time.

Today I had to use my phone a lot. Phone showed 5hs 48 mins with an on screen time of 6% and 2hrs 42 mins... I only had 5 percent battery life. Strong service and it was on WiFi most the time. As far as your X goes, you should be getting more than 3hrs on screen time.

I will say I haven't jumped on the X yet because on T mobile they only offer the 16GB. I will miss the speakers, the aluminum and the storage though.
