Somebody posted that they dropped their pixel before they got a case on it and was they broke the back of the phone today.
I hope I don't make this stuff up.

I have the iPhone 7+, S7 Edge, Note 7(yeah i know), V20 and the Pixel XL. The Pixel XL suffers from the ghosting/halo and lens flare far more greater than others. I don't think a software patch can fix it all too much as I personally think it's a design issue. The back glass seems to be a lot closer to the lens compared to the other devices and the glass is probably what's causing the ghosting effect and lens flare more so than the actual camera lens itself. I have until Wednesday next week to decide if I plan on keeping the Pixel XL. I agree that at this price point it's not worth this design flaw especially since the camera is a big deal for me and I use it a lot. I love the overall device but I think I'll just have to wait until the next version when these issues are ironed out. If the Pixel was probably $300 less then I can probably deal with it but not at this premium price tag when compared to others.
Wow that last shot is stunning. Is that straight out of the phone without edits?

While those are nice photos, they're not exactly candidates for a lens flare test.
You'll mostly notice lens flare in scenes that have high dynamic range and also have a hard source of light.
You won't get lens flare on an overcast day (soft light) or in a coffee shop.
Preach on brother. Nice pictures. Haters gonna hate!I don't get your point, is it your suggestion that I look for scenes that are difficult for any camera to expose, where I wouldn't normally take a picture just to expose lens flare or should I just take pictures to create memories of where I've been? I'm not saying the Pixel camera is perfect, but if I'm on vacation and I'm taking hundreds of pics and videos that don't create problems for the Pixel, are you saying that I should look for those scenarios, or do you just have hate? My point is, I didn't have to adjust enough scenes to think that lens flare was even a remote impedance to capturing great shots. But, could I create scenarios where I'd get lens flare 100%of the time? Yes. Would those scenarios be legitimately capturing my memories? Hell NO! I absolutely believe that Google can clean this up with a software fix. And, I bet once they do so, continued lens flare will affect less than 1% of the pictures that I take from that point forward. As I said before, haters are over working the lens flare thing. I view the lens glare issue like Democrats view Hillary's emails. It's a mistake that can't be easily fixed, but it won't change the outcome. Victory is imminent. LOL!
Thank you! I don't get the angle of some people here. Every product has flaws. The Pixel is no different. The question is can the product work for you. It looks like the camera in the Pixel is working great for you and I have had the same experience.I don't get your point, is it your suggestion that I look for scenes that are difficult for any camera to expose, where I wouldn't normally take a picture just to expose lens flare or should I just take pictures to create memories of where I've been? Naw, not over working it when it happens more so to the Pixel vs my other devices. And like I said in a later post I'd rather return it now while I can rather than be stuck with almost a 1k device that a software update doesn't actually fix. If the software update does fixes it then I can always buy it again. I can definitely take great shots with the Pixel it's a great devie and every device has their flaws but again that's up to the end user to determine the value or worth of a devices flaws vs strengths and if it's really worth it. We can banter all day on how awesome the device is especially with you coming from a 6p and yeah it's a night and day experience so I can understand how you love the Pixel. So you calling everyone haters because they don't love a device as much as you do is a bit childish...but then again this is the internet.I really think you're over working the glare issue. And, since when does the Pixel suffer from ghosting, which if very different than glare? I just took a trip to New Orleans and I bet i took over 100 photos and had 2 glare-related photos that I didn't see when I framed the shots. That's not bad. I also had to adjust maybe 2 other shots that I was able to see flare in the lens. The photos that I took were nothing short of spectacular. I took many of them with HDR+ on. A-HDR+ works best when you need a quick shot or when the lighting is consistent. But, if you have the time to frame a shot, then don't use the auto HDR+ setting.
