Returned s9 plus after 24 hours

I love my s9 from the s8. Everything is snappier and the speaker and camera alone is worth the upgrade. This baby is staying!

I didn't think the upgrade would be worth it at first, but I went to view it at the store and was offered a good deal on the device so I decided to try it out. I ended up keeping it, I like the small differences and don't think I could go back now. I I Ky thing I miss is bixby vision shopping/food.

Things I don't care about on a phone. Stereo speakers, if I want to listen to music I use head phones or my Google home. I don't care about the camera in a phone either. I don't really take a lot of pictures that has never been a big selling point.

I will laud my essential phone because it tackles what I like most. Which is a stock Android experience, and a far superior build quality. While I sit here on the latest security update I enjoy reading about people complaining the s9 is still on February security. Based on my s8+ updates, I don't see the s9 ever getting a bump in android version for a year. My s8+ was on 7.0 till they release 8.0 in March. 11 months after it launched.

One thing I feel I need to mention, my s8+ was running the same software as the s9+. Between them I couldn't tell a noticeable increase in any performance. I am certain had I been using the s8+ on 7.0 it would have been night and day difference. 8.0 on the s8+ is a very smooth and fluid experience I was actually shocked by it being so responsive. That is the basis of why they feel exactly the same I went from one device directly to the other running the same software(minus the visual changes).

I don't find your excuses valid...But to each it's own...Just buy what makes u happy....

Yeah I'm having trouble understanding why you bought an S9 to begin with? Everything you mentioned, you must have known about before you purchased?

What am I missing?

If the updates to the S9+ were not enough, why update in the first place? The only place the ram and chip improvements will really be noticed is with DexPad and emulators. Stereo speakers and camera updates are about it besides that. If those are not worthy updates, why bother? Then posting to rationalize the return seems superfluous. Then again, most posts by me included are arguably superfluous :)

To be fair the S9 supports project treble so it should in theory get updates quicker. It will be very interesting to see if 8.1 follows quite quickly or not.

I suspect PT will make zero difference

Stereo speakers and FPS scanner was enough for me to upgrade, and this is the first time I'm using stock UI since they enabled pull down for notifications and a 5x6 grid (but I believe these two became available with the Note 8).

I suspect updates will come faster now, but only if you have an S9 or later model.

Yeah, I was wondering why you even got the S9+ in the first place only to return it in 24hrs also? To give Samsung another go to see if it'd work this time around? From when - Yesterday?
Seems odd & makes zero sense especially if you had an S8+ and I'm sure you knew the specs prior. You said it's the same phone running the same software, you don't care about the speakers or camera(Yet, You say in your original post "the star of the show the camera wasn't impressive, unless turning my concrete driveway pink is impressive" going on to say how much you've read about all it's problems lol) but you decide to see if it could work "this" time? Idk it kinda just looks like your trolling - I could be wrong.

Then you're called out for lauding the Essential only to quickly justify it for "being a stock android experience, and a far superior build quality" -the latter I don't agree with- while bragging about a security update...
Who is complaining about the S9 anyway?
To each there own - if your thing is a stock Android experience more power to you but that's not what the S9 or any Samsung offers. Just seems off getting it then starting a thread obviously bashing it throughout...

Again is just my thoughts on your posts - if trolling you accomplished your goal & amused me also so thx... If not you wasted time and effort finding out the S9+ wasn't gonna work for you this time around.

Not to mention dumped the 8+ for the G6 and was dissing the 8+ then.... Seems somewhat dubious for intent. Besides, I'm not seeing the pink sidewalks in pics and I'm picky to the point of unfair.

Never claimed the 8+ was an amazing, simply pointed out that I had been using with 8.0(which is surprisingly smooth compared to my experience) decided to try the s9. I don't know how me not liking a phone because it was an apple style upgrade to a device is dubious. I am glad that you are not experiencing any issues, really makes it difficult to want to keep a device that you are going to pay over 800 bucks for. If I am going to pay over 800 for phone it better be what I want in a device. I'm not going to go spend that kind of money just to say I have the latest Samsung device. In the end there was nothing I found impressive enough to want to keep that phone.

Fair points!

Not really a worthy upgrade in my opinion from the s8 plus. My s8 plus is running the same software as the S9 plus. There was no noticeable performance increase or battery life that was super impressive and made me go wow. It felt like I was using a skinned version of my s8 plus. The ARmoji was utterly terrible and the face tracking was terrible as well. The star of the show the camera wasn't impressive, unless turning my concrete drive way pink is impressive. From what I have read there are some serious issues with the processing of pictures and over saturating them. I am sure a software update will fix these issues. There wasn't that wow factor at all with this phone. It was oh look it's identical to the one I am holding. I guess Samsung has finished its transition into becoming the Apple of Android!!

Again this is just my thoughts on the device and my experience. Not enough to warrant spending 800 plus on a device.

Where you expecting a projector display coming out of the screen...all joking aside
The people that bought the one plus 3t to the 5t was that a big update or the iPhone 6s to the 7s ...no but they still sold because there were little upgrades people liked , performance, extra ram, stero speakers and not to mention the way the fingerprint set-up is quick and easy now on the s9+

That's why the last iPhone I owned before the X was the 6s, they were all incremental upgrades until the X. I would probably still have the X if it wasn't so riddled with bugs, so so so many bugs.

I just wanted the phone to release the aroma of bacon cooking when my alarm went off. That's the real deal breaker right there . I am sure there are plenty of people who are loving their 9+ it just didn't do it for me.

I am curious as to what everyone thinks of the AR emoji. No matter how many times I tried to set it up. In never looked anything like me. Also it cant processes of you have a beard or not. The motion tracking was pretty awful. I will give it to apple for having the face id down pretty solid and the face tracking was on point. Plus sending friends drunk messages as a turd is pretty entertaining haha. That a side, all the things I do like about the 9+ my 8+ has. If anything the 9+ has me using my 8+(back story was my son's 8+ he decided grades weren't important)

Tried the ARmoji. Looked nothing like me. Never bothered after. Lol.
