Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but what made it feel second tier to you?I'd be seriously disappointed to go from N5 to Moto X. Moto X doesn't feel flagshippy to me at all. Closest pure google experience yes, but just felt/ looked like a second tier phone to me.
People are only saying the nexus 5 is not flagship because of the price. When pressed for "why" it is not flagship quality, they can't give me an answer. On looks and specs, it definitely feels like a flagship device to me.
I do recommend the Moto X to people anyway. I like the vanilla android "skin". I like the always on thing. I like how you can customize the case and I like the in-hand feel. The CPU is "only" dual core, but you cannot really tell IMO unless you benchmark or game.
