I am new here!! Very happy to be part of this community.

My Huawei Mate10 starts reverse charging when it is connected with a Midi Cable through OTG Type-C adaptor.

I try to set the USB mode to MIDI, but after 1-2 sec it goes back to Reverse Charging mode.

I have already tried:

- Set USB debugging mode
- Go to "Settings", and "Disable USB audio routing"
- Set as default the MIDI mode in Developers settings

Do you have any idea to avoid this Reverse Charging and to set the MIDI mode?

Hi, welcome to AC!

Glad to have you here !

Reverse charging , isn't that a feature on Huawei to place another phone on the back to charge it ? Have you tried safe mode ?

Thanks a lot for your warm welcome and answer!

Yes, reverse charging is exactly that feature, but it also works by cable.

In this case, what I want is to connect a Piano MIDI to the Phone/table. I am using a MIDI to USB cable + OTG USB to USB-C adaptor.

Due to this, even if I can connect it in safe mode, I could not use the apps that I want to use for the piano.

Thank you for your reply!

According to the links:

"When you connect your phone to a USB flash drive through an OTG cable for data transfer, your phone needs to charge the USB flash drive. This is normal and does not affect the data transfer process"

In this case it is connected to a cable and to a MIDI piano (with its own power), and the apps that I want to use recognize that it is a MIDI cable connected but they do not recognize when I am playing the piano. I really think that I should disable the charging through USB feature (if that option exists... maybe an app??) to be able to choose the MIDI mode.

I have written to Huawei technical support, although this his happening to me also in a Galaxy Tab A10

If you have any other idea I am opened to try.

Thank you for all your support
