Reverting back question

If you leave beta at this point will you stay on Android 10 or factory reset? I remember at a certain point last year you didn't have to factory reset after leaving beta....

Leave Beta and see how the phone works. If the system cache is causing a problem, clear the cache (in recovery). You shouldn't have to reset. (The "switch back" is like an update, but it doesn't clear the cache, otherwise it works like any update [And you sometimes have to clear the system cache after a system level update].)

As a beta user, to make sure I understand: tomorrow *after* my Pixel updates (fingers crossed), I should just go clear the cache; It can't hurt and it may help. Is that right?

But my question is if I opt out of beta will it factory reset like before

IIRC leaving the beta program will imply a factory reset and downloading Pie back. I'd would wait a few days until the stable version is released.

Do you mean a cache partition wipe? That partition doesn't exist anymore on Pixels and any other phone that includes the A/B dual partition feature.

I have no clue what that is. I think I asked a question beyond my abilities.

As for your other post... Are you saying it's possible the official release of Android 10 could be less stable than its latest beta?

Not at all, just saying to not leave the beta program now that the stable version is going to be released in the next days. Easier updating from the latest beta than going back to Pie first.

Wiping the cache partition was a recommended step after a system update and I thought that's what you meant in your post. Phones that include the dual partition and the seamless updates features don't have the cache partition anymore. This is the case for Pixels and recent Moto or OnePlus devices.

So, in other words, I can just chill and let the good times roll. * Namaste *
