Review, battery life

I don't trust phonearena reviews. For that matter, I don't trust the verge reviews either.

I'll wait for consumer reviews. Or better yet, my own review lol

I prefer to believe LG's claim of improved battery.

I really hope this isn't true. Better battery life than the S6 is the main reason I've been limping along with my m7. That's really the main reason I would accept the larger form factor.

Didn't Phil say that he got better battery life with his g4 than the s6 he had?

I saw that so called review...
After seeing them change the score downward I think I will take whatever they say with a grain of salt.

Exactly. Review came out with a 9.2... Samsheep bitched and moaned, and they deflated it to a 9.

Every preliminary comment from those who have had their hands on the G4 have said that it gets better battery life than the G3 and the S6. Also, this is still with pre-release software which can and will be tweaked and updated prior to the phone's wide-release. PA just has dozens of click-bait articles on every conceivable aspect of a new phone. Long story short, S6 owners have to recharge at least once throughout the day (even Phil said so); G4 will last the day and still have the option of replacing the battery. G4 wins.

Recombu didn't note any problems:
"Battery life is respectable too, with the removable 3000mAh cell comfortably lasting into a second day’s use, although you’ll likely need to charge it up again before lunch on that second day – or swap out the cell for another which isn’t an option on any of the G4’s obvious rivals."

Why the complaints, you can easily swap it out. :p LOL

SHIFT_sixty four s6 edge

Damn hoping that's a quirk with an early unit or something. If the G4 has less battery life than my current S6, then I couldn't grab it as my daily driver.

I need something that lasts longer than what I currently have. Will wait for more reviews, and hopefully this is just an anomaly.

Though people are mentioning that PhoneArena change the score from 9.2 to 9.0? Why did they do that?

To make it look worse than it really is...

A weird app incompatibility or being in a terrible signal location can easily make ANY android phone have terrible battery life. That's why it takes time to get a feel for battery life and why you should get a few different sources. I'm also highly suspicious of the s6 battery life reported on phone arena considering the complaints I've read.

I also think most battery tests don't accurately account for you interacting and scrolling on the device which takes up a lot more battery than just statically watching a movie or setting a phone to refresh web pages on a loop. I appreciate the objective measures but I also need to get impressions from people using the phone IRL.

That phone arena review is basically the worst review of the G4 I've seen. They clearly have a raging hard on for the S6.
The camera is amazing, but they don't really sing it's praises, they say the screen is poor when every other review says it's easily on par with the S6.
I also don't trust their battery review. Let's hope anandtech do a review soon on the G4

Phone not out for awhile yet. Last year's G3 got similar early reviews on battery camped to s5 all were off the mark. I can't imagine s6 will be better on battery but time will tell.

Just remember this review when you're holding your G4 for a few days to make your final conclusion. :)

As the full reviews begin trickling out, I have found some very conflicting reports on the battery life. It seems that most of the reviewers who say the longevity falls short of the GS6 site only a video loop test as their battery benchmark. Now they may have done more than that, but if so, they should say as much. My suspicion is that the reviewers who give the win to the G4 are taking a more balanced approach to battery testing. This wouldn't be the first time a phone excels in one task and falls down a bit on another.
