Review Charge battery life shorter than Thunderbolt

My Thunderbolt would sometimes last 6 hours and sometimes it would last over a day. I really liked the phone other then that and the poor quality control.

Agree that the thunderbolt battery is a mixed bag. I can tell when the battery is draining fast because of the heat it produces. Obviously, if you are pulling heavy 4g data it will drain fast. But idling I usually don't have much of a problem, but there have been exceptions. Every once in a while the phone will start draining heavy while just idling. If I notice this, I just do a restart and it fixes it. That all being said, the battery life on 4g on the thunderbolt just isn't great. With the extended battery I have no problem though.

They are using Advanced Task Killer on the phone. Task killers tend to stop apps that the phone keeps relaunching, which then causes a power struggle between the phone and the task killer. Ultimately it hurts battery life more than anything else

Well if they were using a task killer on the Charge, I would guess they would have the same thing on the Thunderbolt. I personally don't use them. I'm at over 7.5 hours so far and still at 47 percent and the screen has been on full brightness and on for about the last 2 hours. The screen has been on 3 hours total, plus about 15 minutes of phone calls. That gives an awake time of close to 6 hours if I let it drain all the way and do the exact same stuff I've been doing and again, the screen is on full brightness.

My Experience

In my first day of mild business use, and the screen at 60%, I just plugged in my charge after 14 hours and I was at 65-70% battery remaining. I would say that on first impression that is quite good.

I dont know if they are using a task killer on the TB or not since I didnt see a pic. Im not declaring the Charge superior to the Thunderbolt in terms of battery life either. Im saying that the test is flawed on their end and therefore worthless to me.

Its awesome that you are getting the amount of battery life you are getting, I would take the word of forum members who have found ways to maximize battery life, than a reviewer that couldnt even tell dyslexicbunny the capacity of the batteries that were used in testing.

Wow that's amazing life! How long is the screen on time though? Definitely kills my Incredible.......which is being replaced by a Charge tomorrow!

This review does a test between battery life comparing the Thunderbolt and Charge

Droid Charge Review | Ubergizmo

I am not sure how others use their phones, but I will be coming over from a Blackberry so I have my phone checking for new mail constantly. This has me concerned because I was waiting for the Charge.

So far my battery life has been pretty good, much, much better than the HTC Incredible with the stock battery..

i would say that is moderate usage , maybe 2 hours of texting and trolling the forums :D

So far my battery life is bad and it doesn't seem to be improving. I reset my device to factory in hopes that it would improve my battery and its draining almost 2% every 15 to 20 minutes.

Its not true. I had a Thunderbolt and now own a Charge and its not even close, the Charge has way better battery life.
I agree. The Charge is at least 50% bettter than the Thunderbolt. Besides, it has a much better screen and weighs 11/2 oz. less.

I've posted my day 1 results of heavy usage being at about 20 hours with room to spare. Day 2 is ending and I drove around a lot using the GPS and was constantly using it for work calls (~4 hours worth). I also experimented with different apps (NoLED, widgetoid, etc). It definitely drained it a little quicker but I'm on hour 13 and at about 35% battery. I'd say it's doing pretty good!

Tomorrow I play on running the wifi hotspot and really putting it to the test.

I was able to go 12 hours on Sunday and was at 20% left at the end of the day, but today was a whole other story.

Phone off the charger at 7am, and by 11:30am I was down to 12% battery life. I set my screen brightness down to 40% or so, and killed the facebook widget that i had running. It was OK for a little bit, but got pretty crappy again after an hour. Draining power like crazy. Now that I am back on 3G network at home it seems a bit better, but still concerned a about it overall.

Any other suggestions on how to save battery life? I have the NoLED app running, and dont know if that causes any issues. Looking for any help I can get

Battery life reviews seem to be all over the map... is this going to be another TBolt, again?

Man, I'm all set to go buy this thing, but after reading some battery reviews, I'm hesitant to jump.

Tweetcaster is using 15% of my battery...I have it set to update every 30 minutes, but geez, what a hog. Is this normal for Tweetcaster?

while tweetcaster is on a 30min check it still uses a lot.. put it on manual and then just refresh when you go in.. Honest answer if you are following a lot of people that may stilll take a hit but less than it refreshing 2 times over your lunch break...

~~EDIT~~ Today i have had a uptime for 17 hrs and 4 min. w/ a batt life of 18% remaining.. j seems like most people are having app trouble eating at it not the phone itself...

Gotta call BS on Halcyon. No one on here believes a Tbolt will last that long and I hope people planning to spend their hard earned money selecting a new phone for the next 2 years, are smart enough to see through your crap. You can't even have every transmitter in the device turned off and the display off and get 36hrs. Total BS
