Here's my review for the Clarivue tempered glass protector (XT Glass):
As you can see in this video that I've shot, it is a TERRIBLE PRODUCT, and has some very serious issues
REVIEW: Clarivue tempered glass protector for Samsung Galaxy S3 (XT Glass) - YouTube
My final conclusion is:
Stay away from it!
I've had experience with two other tempered glass protectors (XGear/Glaszone) - and both are significantly better than the Clarivue one.
Installation:
In the protector package the was also a cleaning tissue, pre moistened in a cleaning solution. Ihave no complaints about it, worked just fine.
The instructions that came with the protector were incorrect, they showed how to install Clarivue's film protector, and not the glass one.
But, I have past experience with installing tempered glass protectors (about 4-5 installs of other protectors so far) - so I knew exactly what to do.
I know for sure that my installation process was flawless, I installed it in a steamed room (to avoid dust particles stuck under the glass) while using air pressure spray can to blow away dust, and made sure it is perfectly aligned and no dust is trapped under the protector before sticking it to the phone.
Made it perfectly and very accurately on a single attempt, so I'm pretty convinced that the issues I experienced had nothing to do with the sticky part wearing off, or to bad/wrong installation.
Fit:
The protector fits quite well to the phone, and appears like it has no issues on first glance, BUT:
1. VERY ANNOYING: when pressing the protector against the phone, it CLICKS horribly (demonstrated in the video review). I was hoping that this will disappear over time, but it didn't, and the problem lasted for the whole week I've had the protector on my phone.
2. There's a 'rainbow puddle' on the center of the screen, very noticeable and annoying.
Touch/Sensitivity:
The main/worst problem with this product. A total disappointment!
1. Very randomly, without any noticeable reason - touches are simply not registered.
2. Very often, simple swipes across the screen (such as going through an Instagram feed) - were registered as clicks/double clicks (using the Instagram example: photos on Instagram received 'likes' for no reason). or: while flipping through the home screens, programs are running randomly. flipping through the installed apps - same thing.
3. Sometimes single clicks were registered as double clicks.
The video demonstrates how touches are not registered, tested using: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ails?id=com.tsaysoft.touchtest&token=bJEJtH7m
After a week of SUFFERING with these issues, I couldn't stand it any longer and removed the protector.
Proximity Sensor:
The proximity sensor is totally blocked, which makes is impossible to end phone calls (screen is darkened until the other side ends the call), or to access the phone while in a call. tested using: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...id=com.tigermonster.proxfinder&token=Thue-eC-
Only way to get around it is to disable the proximity sensor from the phone settings (or get rid of this protector, like I did).
I'm familiar with this problem on the first/second versions of the XGear protector, but XGear has solved it by simply cutting a hole above the protector, which solves it.
For those familiar with this issue: my phone measures 8cm (vs. 5cm on other units). I haven't tested it on a phone that measures 5cm.
Customer support:
They have dragged me through emails for over a MONTH, refusing to issue me a refund me for this very defected/faulty product - after I've proven beyond any doubt that the product is simply faulty.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I would never buy a Clarivue product EVER AGAIN, and recommend all of you to do the same.
After a month of emails back and forth, their final offer was that I'll send them the product (shipping will be on my expense), so they will be able to inspect it, and then if its found defective - they'll give me a refund minus a 'restocking fee'.
Sending it to them (overseas, I dont live in the US) will cost me almost like a new product from a different company.
I obviously refused, and have made them a promise - that I'll share my experiences with Clarivue with the world and online communities, so others can stay away from going through such a nightmare.
It is VERY SAD and unacceptable, that such a company with such a bad customer service/products, have somehow managed to build a good reputation, for no reason.
Save your money, and dont even bother to buy this product, there are better alternatives out there (XGear's Clarivue/Glaszone were tested by me, and are much better. there are other alternatives that I didnt try yet, such as SGP and Seidio).
Have anyone else here have experienced the same from this product/other Clarivue products/their customer support?
Please help other community members by spreading the word and giving heads up to other potential customers that might lose their money and find themselves frustrated over Clarivue's bad customer service, and terrible products.
