Ringtone Issue

My phone rang this morning and a different ringtone was playing. I have the digital phone (i know boring) ringtone set as my default. When the phone rang it played a different ringtone, not sure the name of it but it sounds like it is a generic one that came preloaded on my S5. Then later someone else calls and it's the same ringtone (not digital phone). So I go into my settings to see if the ringtone was accidentally changed and it is set to "digital phone". So i start clicking on other ringtones and it seems that more than 90% of my ringtones all play this same ringtone. Wondering how this happened??? Any ideas on how to fix without wiping phone?

I'm wondering if your custom ringtones are on an SD card? If so, there may be a problem with the card so the device is going for the default file that it can read?

PROBLEM SOLVED! I powered down and back on again and it has solved my problem. I'm thinking you are correct when you said the device is going to the default file that it can read. I'll probably never know how that happened but glad it is resolved.

TOP TIP:

Never, ever, store ringtones and notification or alarm tones on an external SD card because sooner or later the phone will revert to the default tones as it reads phone memory quicker and easier.
