Ringtone & Notifications - VERY low volume

I generally like my Pixel 3. But I continue to miss calls and message notifications because I can't hear the phone ring while it's in my pocket. I even installed a third party ringtone (Leaps & Bounds - can't remember the app I used) - and I still miss calls when the phone is in my pants front pocket, even in a low noise environment. And, yes, the ringtone and notification volumes are much up to maximum.

My old S7's ringtone and notification were so loud I never had a problem with missed calls.

Anyone else have this problem and what have you done to solve it?

Welcome to Android Central! I find most default ringtones to be fairly soft and innocuous. I usually install my own custom ringtones to make sure they're more easily heard. Zedge.net is a good resource for free ringtones -- you can download them directly from the website (the app isn't necessary). Once you've downloaded the sound file, use a file manager app to move that file to the /Ringtones directory.
