So my sister misplaced her phone last night and while she was searching around her couch, she put her knee on her sofa cushion and heard a nasty crunch. It was her phone, it was wedged between the bottom of the cushion and the bottom wooden support. The phone doesnt work at all now. Completely dead!

So, now she is needing a new phone but isn't sure if she should upgrade or just get the assurion insurance replacement.

What do you folks think, should she upgrade or get the replacement? She loved her phone very much and isnt much of an android geek but does like the os and HTC sense very much. Should she get a Droid Inc 2 or a different phone or what? any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You!

i think the insurance replacement for the phone is an incredible 2. i would probably do that, it's basically the same thing with some minor improvements. personally i prefer the original incredible for aesthetic reasons and the 2 isn't that much of an improvement hardware wise to warrant paying even the upgrade price. but i think your sister would probably be very happy with an incredible 2.

Yeah, Assurion will more than likely replace it with a Inc2 or a Droid X.

and assiruion will replace it with same device. unless its software related. then they replace it with same device 3x. after 3x they change you to a "comparable device" which is never as good as the one you are changing from.

and question- if she kneeled on it.. why are there 2 definitive marks where pressure was put on the screen? it looks like she kneeled on it, took her weight off.. and then did it again just for good measure to make sure it was dead. you dont get 2 spider web rings from one pressure point.

Ha, yeah, the Thunderbolt is my phone, that's my sisters inc up there. She really doesn't need a phone like mine yet but man, if they do replace it with a inc 2 that would be awesome but if they try to give her a comparable phone I really hope they don't jip her and give her something like an LG Ally. Most likely I can see them giving her an inc 1 or 2. I'm sure Verizon would prefer if she just upgraded too but she actually told she rather not just yet.

She didn't kneel right on it, she didn't know it was right under her knee. I'm guessing the way its marked is from the roll of the roundness of her knee. Believe me, she doesn't have the time to be doing insurance fraud if that's what you are suggesting.

$100 for an insurance DInc 2 is a better deal than $600 for an off contract phone. I'm assuming she's not eligable for an upgrade yet. If she is, $100 for a DInc 2 is still better than $200 for a "new" phone.

ASSurion will probably send you a refurb Dinc-1 first. When it doesn't work and you call and complain and demand to talk to a supervisor, they will send you a Dinc-2. Just went through this with them last week...

Damn, that screen looks as bad as mine did except I accidently drove over my Dinc-1 with a Chevy Tahoe...

That sounds nasty tfalk. Honestly, I think that may make my sister happier as long as the refurb works well. She is 21 but when it comes to techy things she's like an old person and prefers to stick with things she knows. I'll let you guys know what the insurance tells her. Hopefully a dinc 2 will be sent out.

My wife's DInc shattered about 2 months ago - they didn't have any DI's to replace it with so they sent a DX - not too shabby of a phone. However, this one might just have to get shattered if DI2 is now an option... just sayin'

It is people like you who ruin it for honest people with legit issues and need a replacement. There is nothing wrong with the Droid X. Be happy you received it. To ruin that phone in hopes of getting an Inc2 isn't very honorable of you.
