Roaming in my own home?

sure why not

The past week or so I've noticed that occasionally my TW lock screen is displaying my actual time zone as 'roaming' and 'home' as 2 hours west of here.
I've also got the little triangle above the signal strength bars...

Never had a problem with getting 3G signal here before, and if I walk up the street I can jump on 4G like always.
Maybe Sprint cut the power back on their towers due to utility requests during the heatwave?
Is there something else that could be affecting my reception in a fixed location?

I wonder how this will effect my billing?

It may be that Sprint is in the middle of the upgrade, and some of the towers are offline as a result. Or it may just be a tower is down or having problems. Although I don't think either should affect your location that badly. Try turning airplane mode on, then back off, to force a tower reconnect. If that doesn't work, try updating PRL and Profile.

I think sprint has something like a signal booster you plug into your wall or something and its like having a tower outside your house they use to have something like that years ago

It's called an Airave. If you ask for one sternly enough Sprint will provide you with one for free.

Sent from my HTC One using Mobile Nations mobile app

I've tried toggling Airplane mode...
I've updated PRL and Profile...
Signal strength bars climb as the phone reconnects and then the triangle reappears and bars all drop back to gray.

Come to think of it, I did see a work crew delivering/installing what I thought was a generator to the tower site earlier this week.
But like I said if I walk up the street towards the tower I do get good signal (and it's 4G! :) )
If this is Sprint's "Network Vision" it has left me blind.

Google Voice -or whatever they are calling it now- seems to be the workaround.
Hopefully this is just a temporary situation because I don't have a landline and it is killing my battery too.

Arrrgh
This is driving me crazy.
Now I have the slashed circle and a "Network information" warning that 'connecting to mobile networks may result in additional charges'...

Ready to wipe everything and factory reset.
Maybe I should send a screenshot to Sprint and ask them WTF is going on with their service?
Doubt I'll get an Airave here because there seems to be signal around here.

Well the Filipino sounding woman @ Sprint customer service says there is NV work going on in my area.
That I shouldn't expect to see service for another 3 days.
I've always had at least 3 bars here,
Hopefully their upgrade will extend 4G to my home.

I'm glad I'm not going crazy and my new S3 isn't failing already.

Anybody have an idea on how to set the clock at my "home" location so it doesn't show 2-3 hours early?

I am not sure about your clock, due to it depending on the towers, but I would call Sprint again, tell them what is going on. They should not be charging you for any roaming during this period.
