thanks for the tutorial, the post itself is a bit confusing..

when i try to OTA to new software from DL09, i get server unavailable (i was on a non stock rom before this and flashed back to DL09). is there a manual method to get ED01 or ED03 without too much fuss?

a dumb question - what is the update.zip? does that just prep the phone for a rom? the community rom i downloaded says test2 or something in the file name..is that correct?

You may have one of the estimated 10,000 phones that will not OTA to ED01, but ED03 is supposed to fix that. Make sure your wifi is off when you are trying to do the OTA. You can manually update to ED01 by following the steps in Adrynalyne's "how to get to ED01 quickly" thread. You should be able to find it in the rooting, roms, & hacks section, page 3 or 4 or perhaps further back

Update.zip was just a key or gateway to get into CWM when on a stock kernel & booting first to stock blue (2e) recovery

No, no way to turn that off. It's an option the devs who created Comm ROM like, so they put it in the ROM and I would imagine it is there to stay.

Yeah, that's the charging indicator. As far as the clock not showing up, you're doing the right thing by hitting the white dot in the center. Are you hitting the home key, or are you backing all the way back to home with the back key? The directions I used had you doing this with the phone unplugged and using the back key to get back to the home screen before rebooting. Also, are you using the reboot option, or powering off and manually rebooting?

Lol, I'm such a dork about the charging indicator lol, I guess I'm so used to the charging symbol in the battery. As for the clock...I don;t what I was doing wrong, I tried it both ways and finally it is working.

that is the post i was referencing earlier when i said i was getting the error. i flash to dl09 fine, but when i try to run update.zip in cwr, i get the error message i mentioned.

I've tried 2.5 and 3-30..any ideas?

thats because you dont have an update.zip file on your sd card... you don;t use that option.

use the option "install zip from sd card"... then select the KB 1.3 zip

No, he's not trying to get to KB 1.3 yet, he's trying to get to ED01 first using Adrynalyne's method with the update.zip files. So he's doing it right but probably does not have the update.zip file in the right place

Where are you placing the update.zip files? They need to be on the root or base of your sd card & you have to flash them in the right order

Did you download both the EA28 update.zip and the ED01 update.zip from that thread? You can't update to Froyo without going to EA28 first. So, from DL09, don't do anything with CWM yet because applying the update.zips will only work from stock recovery. After you put the EA28 update.zip on the root of your SD card, turn your phone off. Now, reboot into stock recovery and apply update.zip (the EA28 update). Once it does that, your phone will reboot. Let it finish loading and media scanning, then delete the EA28 update.zip and put the ED01 update.zip on the root of your SD card. Just like before, turn your phone off and then reboot into stock recovery. Apply update.zip and wait a few minutes, as the first reboot after going to ED01 takes a little while longer to get going (~2-5 minutes). Once that's all loaded and set, then you can put the ComRom 1.3 zip on your SD card. Turn your phone off and then get to download mode. ODIN CWM. 2.5.x and all 3-30 are the same. You want 3.x from: xda developers- CWM 3.x

After you ODIN CWM, reboot straight to recovery, then you can flash do the data/cache/dalvik wipe and flash ComRom 1.3. Reboot your phone and enjoy!

Thanks, I think that is my problem..I put both update.zips on my phone at once, and just renamed one update2.zip. I was also using cwr to run those zips on the phone..is it the same 3 button method to boot into the stock version of recovery and install update.zip and get EA28? I never did that before

Would like to go to ED03 and ComRom 1.3.... what is the smoothest way to do this?

yea... got the backups done.... just to be clear though... since I am going to Odin to CWM 3.0, i don;t have to do the whole update.zip file on my sd card, correct? Since I will already be in 3.0

CWM 3.0 and 2.5.x 3-30 don't need the update.zip as the others did. You can ditch it.

KB1.4 is hopefully going to be released soon if you want to wait..

ohhh, i didn;t know that.... is it a full ROM? Or a patch (like 1.1 and 1.2 were?)

If it is a full ROM, I will probably wait

Thats a good question...probably a patch since 1.3 was a full ROM...but I may be wrong...

According to a very reliable source, it will be a full rom, and it should be released "fairly soon"..

EDIT: "Fairly soon" could mean a month..or two...please don't insight a riot, and NOBODY go asking when this will be out..it will be inevitable..

It will be KB 2.0. Time frame TBA..."fairly soon" should be taken lightly..I would move forward with 1.3, unless your moving on up just for the heck of it.. I don't think it will be out this week..
