[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

I recently switched from SC 2.9.2 to CommRom 1.3. When I first switched I wiped data/cache/dalvik before the switch but I didn't do it after I loaded CommRom. I'm also non-voodoo(no real reason other than I haven't done it yet). I added the voodoo folder and disable_lagfix file to the root of my SD card.

I'm getting a LOT of FC's where no message pops up. The phone just vibrates ones, then 3 times indicating something crashed but I don't know what. Also I'm having problems where the phone freezes up for 20 seconds in the middle of something(Facebook, browser, etc) and I have to hit the home button a bunch of times, then it comes back to life and vibrates a bunch as it catches up to the queue of button taps.

So my question is, what do I need to do to get me back in business. Do I need to wipe data(factory reset) + cache partition + dalvik cache, re-flash the rom, then re wipe data/cache/dalvik, then restore with Titanium or is there something else I'm missing? Should I look into another kernel?

That's a bad install.. and don't fear the voodoo. It makes this ROM fly!

Here's what you need to do

1. Redownload v1.3
2. clear both cache's three times each
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4.Flash ComRom
5.Wipe data/factory reset
Reboot to system

Don't touch anything while the phone is booting up. This will convert you to VOODOO and may take up to fifteen minutes to boot. Don't freak out. From now on when you download a kernel or a ROM including a kernel (like KB 2.0 which is coming out soon) make suire it's VOODOO.

Let the phone's media scanner run all the way before you touch it.

Reboot to recovery.

Flash what patches you want (I definitely would flash the browser patch)

Reboot to system

let the phone's media scanner finish

begin restore.

Good luck!

i want to try com rom again but i am having tons of trouble with clockwork recovery. i am trying to back up my rom but whenever i do the phone tells me
e:can't mount/cache/recovery/command
e:can't mount/cache/recovery/log
e:can't open/cache/recovery/log
there are other things it says it cant do but im sure someone has already seen this before.
can someone help me or point me in the right direction.

thank you so much.

If you flash the 3-30 fix with odin the next time you get in you can flash comrom and then it will have the correct CWR.

Or at least that is how I had to do it.
After the ED03 OTA it would only boot into CWR once then go back to the stock recovery, had to trick it by flashing then updating ROM after the clearing of all the data three times, probably don't have to but I like overkill.

Hey guys. Took the voodoo plunge (although I barely know what I'm doing to be honest) and this ROM flys! Just a quick question as there are over 200 pages to read through. Is there anyone having issues with vibrate? I have it set to vibrate, send a txt msg to the phone, but no vibration. missing alot of txt (and having a very angry g/f in the process). Also, every once in awhile my keyboard goes from Swiftkey back to the default TSM Swype keyboard, not sure why.

Regardless, awesome job to everyone who works on these in the community =]

Next time you are getting random FC's and not in a specific program or app, just go into terminal emulator and run the fix permissions script. I was having the same issue last night and realized I had not fixed permissions since I wiped my phone clean and built up from scratch. Fixed all my issues and phone is smooth and flying fast now. If you don't have Android terminal emulator, download it from the market. Open terminal emulator, you will see a $ in the top left corner of the blue screen. Next to that type su and hit the enter key on your keyboard, terminal emulator will be given superuser permission after you hit yes on the pop up. Hit the menu soft key and choose the option to bring the keyboard back up. You will now notice a # after the su. Type fxpms next to the # and hit the enter key. A bunch of script will scroll on the screen. It will take a while, but when it's done you will see another # at the end and will give you an end time. Done. Back out of terminal emulator, give the phone a minute or two to settle and you should notice a difference.

Go menu=>settings=>sound settings=>vibrate and choose always. Not sure why the keyboard is reverting back to swype. Did you change keyboard through the settings menu or through the messaging app? If you changed keyboards while in the app, try going menu=>settings=>language & keyboard=>select input method and see if that will make the change permanent.

So the fix permission script is built into the terminal emulator? nice. Thanks!

no, the fix permissions script is built into Comm ROM, Evil Fascination ROM, and MIUIWiz. You just use terminal emulator to run the script. You can also run it through CWM, but that requires you to boot to recovery then reboot the phone. I find it much easier to run the fix permissions script in terminal emulator. If you are not running one of those ROMs, you can find the fix permissions script in the old Superclean thread.

this 3-30 fix.... how do i get it, is there a link?

I finished reloading KB1.3 and switched to voodoo. followed the steps above. Phone FLYS now. I WISH I knew how fast voodoo was before this. I would have done it from the beginning. I don't even think I need to OC at all it's that snappy. Now I need to look into other kernels for better battery life.

On a separate note, does the OTB kernel that comes with this rom include the dummy tether module? I've seen this question asked but I haven't seen this question answered from what I can tell.

thanks shark and lowrent.
last question on this i hope ;)
when i flash this through odin, it isn't going to clear my kernel or rom right?

Nope, won't touch rom or kernel. If you are trying to go to Comm ROM, after you flash this through ODIN, pull USB cord, put battery back in, hold volume up, volume down, and power buttons until samsung logo flashes for second time, let go of all three buttons, go to install zip from sd card, power button, choose zip from sd card, power button, find Comm ROM file, power button, wait for file to finish, reboot phone.

You forgot wipe data after flashing comrom :)

Can you use the TouchWiz Launcher with Community ROM? I have tried searching but haven't seen anything definitive.
