[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

Guys, can you give me some "Kernal" recommendations? I think I'm something old from when I first started learning about rooting

The OTB Kernels are user-configurable for Clocking speeds and Voltage settings (under volting). There is a thread titled "Voltage Control Settings" or something of that nature, so you can see what others are using for settings.

If you want something no muss no fuss, imnuts Peanut Butta Jelly Time -50 kernel is reported to be working quite well.

I had good luck with OTB v1.5, I just flashed OTB v1.6 this morning and am in the process of resetting my battery stats.

Another thing to make sure you check before flashing a different kernel (which should have been replaced when you ODIN flashed CommRom) is if you are converted to Voodoo or not. This is critical to know, and can lead to a soft-bricked phone if to try to flash a non-voodoo kernel over a voodoo kernel.

Guys, I've tried a few Kernals with Comm Rom 1.3, for some reason, I no longer am able to view the clock in the status bar.

Any idea why?

You need to change the text color. Go to settings... TSM parts.... status bar settings... text color. Select a color, make sure u press the dot in the center of the circle to apply it, reboot... enjoy your clock

@@ symbol texting bug

Hey Everyone!

[context: had the EC01 radio before this, my phone HATED it, I had an immense amount of issues, so i decided to go for the ED01 radio and reflash everything].... READ ON

I updated to the ED01 radio before flashing this, flashed COM ROM1.3 everything went well...

EXCEPT!

when I text my girlfriend (an At&t iphone 4 user) if my texts are over 160 characters, tons of @@@@@ symbols appear after my texts apparently. I have never had this problem UNTIL FLASHING THIS ROM.

Any ideas as to what this is/how to fix it? Love this rom except for that.. can't get the girlfriend mad ;x

Try flashing the newer 2.0 version...or just shorten up your txt messages to her :D

Added Swype Fix add-on and got "trial-expired message"

Didn't see anything in the thread about swype expiring.

Does GunnerMike's Swype add-on expire?

The Swype version that was installed with CommROM 1.x and 2.0 did not have the licensing information adjusted/removed to afford the end user durability of the application.

teamsbrissenmod is aware of the issue and will have a patch up this week. There are options:
Switch to another keboard in the interim - Gingerbread or Samsung...

You can opt to install Swype 3.0 beta.. (some users reporting that this version is not all that great)
That will require some file work in the phone: - tonu42
Please read posts on mod link prior to taking this challenge on to understand the risks involved.

gunnermike53 mods do not affect the expiration of the keyboard.

I just got the expiration notice earlier, freaked me out at first. Glad to know it wasn't just something with mine.

I just flashed CommRom v2.0 and everything is working fine with the texting stuff, no more @@@ symbols@! I don't understand why a Rom would have anything to do with the @'s, i thought it was a verizon wireless issue, but I guess not :/
---> running smooth now on 2.0, I recommend this switch!

My swype just expired too, hopefully a patch will come out soon, even though I don't feel like swype is the best keyboard out there (I recommend swift x beta), Its my personal favorite out of all of them. :-*

Swype Expiration Fix by GrainOsand - Download

This is the stock ED01 Swype. apk and library file. it is a bare bones fix until TSM gets the full patch up:

You will have to boot into recovery
Delete your Dalvik cache
Then flash this zip..

He has indicated that it "should" work...

Ugh, I got the expiration as well. Also I have been having the @ symbol problem with some people. I hope this issue is resolved!

looks like this is working for me, I don't really like the skin that it's running for swype, but honestly it's better than not having it :D Thanks!

I can confirm working well on my fascinate.. It just takes a while to boot after wiping the dalvik cache.

Hi to all I'm having a bit of a problem. I flashed comm rom 2.1 last night and this morning I noticed that my 3g turns off and on every 10 - 15 sec. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know how I fix it?

Thanks

what radio does everyone recommended when using this ROM without the update patch?

Running 2.0 and Im using EC09 modem and i noticed I was getting better data transfer speeds, slightly better signal, and GPS locks on quickly and accurately. The majority consensus say they have all been seeing improvements with this radio.
