[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

Thanks!!! Quick question, the last few times I did anything with Odin, I used the menu option from holding the power button. Should I not do that for this update?

I'm not clear on what you are asking here. Are you asking about using the menu option of going into download mode? If so I have not used that option so I don't know how well it works.

You are correct sir. My mistake. I read it too quickly and just assumed since it was the last one it was going from ED01 to ED03. I would stick with ED03. Because of a small glitch I ran into during my Comm ROM flash I had to ODIN back to DL09 with the atlas 2.2 file to fix my partitions. I was previously on ED01 modem and now got ED03 modem and I'm getting the best 3G and cell reception and connectivity I've every gotten.

Sweet. My 3g reception usually sucks pretty bad which affects my battery life.

As long as it gets you to download mode and it works for you, keep using it.

The only thing about that method is...it would boot you to Download without the battery out.. not sure if you can pull the battery once in download mode, but if it were me, I wouldn't risk it. Just use the standard hold volume down key after you pull the battery.

I'm in the middle of going to DL09...it's taking a while so I'm not sure if it's working or not with this method. Is it safe to abort and use the standard method right now? I've been at this point for 10 minutes now.

yes, close ODIN, pull usb cord, make sure battery is out, open ODIN, plug phone in while holding volume down button, try again

If your just flashing the modem it should take about 3 minutes at max. Are you flashing the entire DLo9 or just the DL09 Modem?

EDIT: Nevermind ...there's a shark in these waters..

Your spot on usually Sharkster....SO this was worth taking my battery out of calibration...just got done...hopefully I'll "have the best 3g and cell reception and connectivity I've ever gotten"

If not, no big..it was cool to satisfy the flasher in me..

10 minutes was conservative actually. I pulled the battery and did it the standard way and it went through in 10 seconds or so. I just went to DL09 and flashed the new CWM. I'm adding a phone test between each modem update in my steps in the earlier thread just to make sure everything is cool.

EDIT: Both of you are awesome by the way...I'm always sketchy when it comes to Odin.

If you don't get the best reception you can shoot me with your lil pistola there

Just wanted to say thanks! I've gone through my steps and now I'm rockin ED03, CWM 3.x, and UKB 2.0. I'm just about to restore all of my apps/data.

EDIT: My phone just shut down on it's own...i'll keep an eye on this...

shut down on it's own again as it was scanning my SD card. Going to boot back into CWM, wipe the cache/data/dalvik once more then reflash the ROM and wipe the cache/data/dalvik again

Which version of the ROM did you flash? May be a kernel problem

I flashed the file UKB_2_OTB_Final.zip and double checked the MD5 hash to make sure it was good. I just finished wiping/reflashing and *228,1,2 and it hasn't happened again. On the first flash I forgot to wipe the cache partition flashing the rom which could be the culprit but we'll see.

EDIT: So far so good with the wipe/reflash/wipe

I need some quick help boys. Please!!
My phone is acting really poorly. I'm on SC 2.9.2, and want to try CommunityRom.

But I'm not sure on the steps as far as, DataWipe, Vodoo, install, etc.

Does anyone have some basic steps for me?

This is good and thorough write up.

Cliffnotes

Backup all user data. (http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/85675-how-preparing-yourself-wipe-data-factory-reset-clockwork-recovery.html

Charge to 100 % with the phone off

Flash CWM.. 3-30 Fix all or newer via ODIN
Boot to recovery
Wipe cache's 3x
Wipe data/factory reset
Flash 2.0
Wipe Data/factory reset
Reboot

let media scanner fully finish

Play around and ensure good install

*228 option 1 then option 2

Start Restore

You'll be Voodoo after that so never again flash anything "non-voodoo" unless you disable lagfix and reboot.

If this is too much, and your having severe problems, look into ODIN with one of Shark's no data wipe packages in the Rooting, Roms and Hacks forum

The Link you mention, One possible path to UKB 2.0 goodness, what is UKB 2.0? Those instructions are pretty lengthy and detailed.
