[ROM][5.07.2011][ED01]Community Rom V1.3

For those that have been having trouble with the phone not showing as a drive in the pc, go into settings > usb > and choose for it to ask you. This seemed to work for me when I was experiencing the same problem with 1.3.

does this fix GPS issues some previous ROMs had trouble with? I'm running 1.92 i think and love the battery life but still have periodic GPS issues, even with GPS Aids. Just wondering since that'd be my main reason to update to a newer ROM

Thanks!

Do you mean you're running SuperClean v2.9.2? If so, yes, this has much better GPS performance than SC 2.9.2, especially if you flash back to stock and then get the Froyo OTA update with the ED01 radio, then flash ComRom over that. That's what I did and my GPS always locks in 15-20 seconds or less.

Yes, sorry..thats the version i have, but its not in the forum stickies anymore so i guess they discontinue its updates?

I'll see if I can figure out how to do all that. any links to files i need would be great if you remember where you got them.

Thanks again!

Fix for SMS

So I have a fix for the @@@@@@ problem with the sms when they split into 2 messages. All it requires is flashing the EB01_mms package. I have the file and I have put it in my dropbox; only one problem though the zip only works with CWM v2.5 and I need someone to convert it to the new CWM v3.x. I have used this zip before on the v1.2 and below and it worked. Flashing this zip will convert the messaging and message theming to the stock look though. But you will have a fully functioning messaging app. Can someone please convert this file for me? And anyone who is still on CWM v2.5 feel free to use this.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28491828/eb01_mms.zip

*This will work on any rom with that issue as long as the appropriate CWM is used. I just know this is a issue with this rom.
**I know my info says Epic but I am doing all this with my g/f's fascinate.

Now 2 full days on Comm 1.3 and running rock solid. My wife has a fully stock 2.2 Fascinate and mine is hands down better. After showing her that everything is fine on mine I believe I have convinced her to let me UPGRADE hers lol.

So I flashed KBCR 1.3 yesterday. I'm not sure if it's the fact I wiped battery stats last week or if my voltage control settings are doing their thing or if it's 1.3... or a combination of all three. But it's like my battery is suddenly on steroids. Like a slice of battery heaven lives in my phone now. After months of crappy battery life now I have a super battery. So, yeah.. I just wanted to share. It's noon-30 and I still have 94%. Wow!

Yay KBCR!

If anyone is interested; I was playing around with the custom colors for the status bar and found that if you set it to #daa8ff00 you will get a green that is pretty close to that of the battery and signal strength bars.

What is the noticeable difference that makes yours better? I've run every version of the SC roms and a few before that and then was on 1.2 and had battery issues so I returned mine to stock. Honestly I think the stock ROM is pretty good, so I'm just wondering what the big differences are you showed your wife. Right now mine is running great completely stock and I'm starting to question it being worth all the time and hassle of working out the bugs when the stock one works fine. Not ripping on anyone and I do appreciate all the work Adren and the devs have put into this, but right now I don't see a big plus to running this. On CR 1.2 I was getting 5-6 hours of battery with minimal use. Stock, I'm getting 15+.

is anyone else having issues creating a backup once upgrading to 1.3? i got v1.3 to work and things seem to be running well, sans the battery. my charge drops over 20% in a couple hours. so i wanted to revert back, but when i tried to create a backup via cwm 3.x, i keep getting an error "Error while backing up boot image!". i don't want to lose everything i've done and any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

So can you give us a blow by blow specifics of what you have done?

What ROM did you come from? Are you using the Stock ED01 radio, or ComRom radio? What and how did you set your voltage control settings to? What are you using on your device (phone, wifi, gps, etc.)? How strong a phone signal do you have in your area... etc.

Thanks

OK. I'm trying to get to CommRom 1.3, but thought I'd got back to stock first from SC 2.9.2nv and grab the ED01 radio then flash CommRom. I loaded CWM/ Red/All through Odin twice after going stock and can't seem to get it to come up. Every time I try to boot to recovery I get Blue recovery. Odin said CWM loaded fine both times and I followed DroidXcon's Tools and quick links post but I must be missing some step in the process. Any ideas?

PS. I thought this was the right place to post since I'm trying to get to CommRom, but apologies if i should post on another thread.
Thanks in advance.

Battery life is near double and the speed of my phone is noticeably a quicker. She pretty much only uses hers for email, FB, and a couple websites. I ran SC 2.9.2 for a month but have never ran complete stock 2.2. I have to say so far this is my favorite.

Did you load cwm after you did the OTA to Froyo??

I have done the conversion several times now just to get a feel for different themes and stuff. Odin back to DL09 for stock, OTA to Froyo for ED01 and then flashed CWM with Odin, making sure that I turned off my antivirus. I did boot into Froyo before I flashed CWM though. Also are you holding down both the Volume keys and waiting for the samsung logo to appear the second time before letting go? I know it may seem redundant but sometimes its a little thing like that where your messing up at.

So I jumped ship. Finally installed ComRom 1.3, did the cache and dalvkit wipes (didnt touch data, had my nanodroid backup just in case) and everything seems to run fine so far, time will tell.

Go Launcher EX and widgets seems to run just fine. Havent found any bugs, so far so good.

Yes, I did all of the above, thats what has me puzzled, it seems like it should come up with CMW/ All, but instead I keep getting CWM blue. I just found on another thread where someone was saying to booting directly to CWM/All straight from the Odin flash, which is what I thought I did, but maybe not, I'll give that a try when I get back home.
